Pattaya's Dark Side: What You Won't Find in the Travel Brochures
While violent crime is relatively rare... ASEAN NOW posters aren't born yesterday though. If they log in here often enough, they are all too familiar with those headlines with: Brawl, altercation, fight, assault, injury etc... -

Proof of address?
How does anyone know? Embassy, Immigration, DLT, bank - none of them have followed me home to check. Apart from us owning the house since 2018 and me having held an account at that branch since 2011, I had a letter from that bank branch dated 3 November - that I received it should be a clue. Anyhow, all sorted, didn't mean to upset you, suggest you go and have a cup of tea and a lie down. -

Trump Plans new Tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China
There's just a small detail you are ignoring.... Drugs such as Fentanyl are not carried by illegal immigrants. They go through legal ports of entry, hidden in cars driven by people legally crossing borders (mainly U.S. citizen), and hidden in shipments also legally crossing borders. 😆- 1

Can you help me to choose a reliable health insurance company (Only Thailand coverage)?
Just got a nasty shock today. Received an email from my provider (ACS). My Medical Insurance for 2025-2026 has gone up drastically. From $4814 last year to $5525. Halfway to my 67th birthday, I'm not sure what to do as it renews on 1st Jan. With such a short ime to go, I think I will have to bite the bullet and pay it. At least that will give me plenty of time to research other providers to see if I can find a better deal. The following are the reasons they give. In a very tense economic context, marked by high medical inflation worldwide, and even more so in South-East Asia, where some of the main hospitals are charging increasingly high rates, our insurer Allianz has informed us that our portfolio is very much in deficit, and has unfortunately forced us to make a sharp adjustment to our health rates in order to ensure the continuity and quality of the cover offered to our policyholders. Your Health 2025 premium will be indexed at 14%, plus any increase linked to your change of age bracket. The rates applicable to any optional cover remain unchanged. Seems like the Thai hospitals are getting like the US ones. I wonder if some will eventually price themselves out of the market. Many providers already don't like to use certain hospitals. -

British Man Arrested for Jewellery Theft from Tourists in Pattaya
Nonsense. Haven't seen any low-life Russians in Pattaya, but I don't hang out in low-life areas. Plenty of the usual respectable sorts, though, families, couples . . . .
