Beach Noise idiots

Used to be the same when I lived in Jomtien years ago. It's why I moved out. Never stay near a beach in Thailand is my advice to anyone who enjoys peace and quiet. Mind you, because so many pool villas have been built around where I moved to in the Huay Yai/Phoenix Golf Course area, we now have bass-heavy music assailing us on weekends during the tourist season. It seems that there's no escape wherever you are in this part of Thailand.

Absolutely. Drinking and partying with loud music until the wee hours, or nursing homes. There's literally nothing in between.

Nobody hates, despises abusing noise as much as I do( obsessive  dog barking, chickens croaking all day long and loud obnoxious karaoke & partygoers but this noise is for the NY celebrations. It will pass after Thai’s go back to work from their holiday.

As mentioned, it is the land of noise in a party town.  They could careless about what people think.  Don't worry, it should only go on for another week.  

      Spouse and I were among the 'idiots' who owned at Northshore.  Our condo faced north and I don't remember the noise from events being bad--and the sliding doors were good quality.  Perhaps it's more of a problem with units facing south towards where the event stages are usually set up.  I think if you choose a location like Northshore's you know going in there will be some noise.

     In any case, It was a fun place to live and we still miss riding down on the elevator New Year's Eve to watch the fireworks from deck chairs on the 6th floor pool deck.  And, also the International Fireworks.  It doesn't get much easier than that.   Also fun to walk across the street to the beach for events and not have to drive and worry about finding a parking place.   We'd probably still be there but we decided we wanted a lot more space for both ourselves and family visits so we relocated to the Darkside.

That's your fault for living in front of the beach/Hilton when every man and his dog knows Beach Rd is party central.

Well apparently that is what they will get in the UK and many NYE events are cancelled. Here, it is a bit cool at 20degC but looks like it will be a fine day So it is all systems go!. I can hear music in the distance already and it is not yet 7am.

Was that the most pathetic fireworks display in the history of Pattaya last night? I woke the GF up just before midnight and we went into the garden to watch, but the display lasted less than 2 minutes. I should think anyone who'd braved the crowds on Beach Road would have been more than a bit disappointed by that effort.

After decades of visiting Thailand I have found that the Thais are immune to loud noises! The louder the better! 🤣

I don't know if this is true or not, but playing everything stupid loud here and across the river, seems to be the norm. Although in Laos it never happens in that fashion, mostly just at parties, funerals and weddings. But it would never start that early or end very very late. 

 

But I digress. My wife explained that they play things loud like that to scare away ghosts. So, using that (rather insane) logic. Firing up the system at 0600 hrs would scare away the ghosts in the machine. 

 

I can't wrap my head around such profound stupidity even after nearly 2 decades. But, try to argue logic with a Thai or Lao.

Believe it or not, there is a law that might possibly apply. If you are prepared to engage a lawyer and spend money, you maybe want to try it ?
