A tragic hit-and-run collision occurred  late night on December 30, on Sukhumvit Road near the Sawang Fah traffic light in Naklua, Bang Lamung, Chonburi. A pedestrian was fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle that fled the scene.

 

The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Centre received a report of the incident at approximately 23:00 and immediately dispatched rescue teams and medical personnel from Pattaya Patthamnakorn Hospital to the scene.

 

Upon arrival, they discovered a man, approximately 40 years old, lying unconscious and severely injured in the middle of the road. He was wearing a black T-shirt and black trousers, and his body was surrounded by a pool of blood. Rescue workers and medics performed CPR in an attempt to save his life before rushing him to the hospital. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

 

At the scene, authorities found broken fragments of a car’s  light scattered across the road. However, there was no sign of the vehicle involved, as the driver had fled the area immediately following the collision.

 

Witnesses reported seeing the victim lying motionless in the road and promptly called emergency services. However, none were able to identify the type or make of the vehicle responsible for the crash.

 

Police from Bang Lamung Police Station are currently investigating the incident and plan to review CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicle and driver involved in this incident.

Too many ignorant and aggressive drivers around at night. 

 

Fleeing the scene should be an automatic jail sentence.

There is a pedestrian crosswalk near my residence that has a manual button to push to change the light to red, so people can cross.  Noone stops.  It is sickening a so selfish.  Like I have said before, I think a lot of people here do not value other human life. Probably the minimal consequences it is up to others to be defensive. The recklessness in which they drive, what other countries do that?

A lot of bad driving habits are still culturally acceptable in Thailand.

Thais CANNOT drive, Thais CANNOT take responsibilty,

Seen the percentage of idiots on the road, most drivers here must be  excellent.

Crossing that busy area dressed all in black he was likely invisible.  As are the traffic lights to many drivers here, so one can suspect a driver going against the lights at that late time. There actually is an  elevated pedestrian crossings near there.

The main cause of death is speed.  This must be the easiest offence to eradicate given the number of CCTV cameras in every town/city.  IF RTP worked more than 14 Dangerous Days in a year; IF the cameras were consulted BEFORE an accident, the annual carnage would decrease to that of a civilised country.

On the 4th Dangerous Day the number of deaths stands at 175 + 1,109 injured.  No sign that the police overtime payments are reaping any rewards.
