Fatal Crash in Loei Sparks Calls for Road Safety Improvements
Pictures courtesy of KhaoSod A tragic collision on March 27 along the Wang Saphung–Udon Thani Road (Highway 210) in Loei province resulted in the death of a woman and left two men critically injured. The accident, occurring at 12.50pm opposite Phain In Plang Witthaya School in Erawan district, involved a sedan losing control and crashing into an oncoming pickup truck. Emergency responders from Erawan Hospital and local rescue units quickly arrived at the scene, where they found the aftermath of a devastating head-on collision. Eyewitnesses reported that the black sedan, travelling from Wang Saphung towards Erawan, unexpectedly swerved, crossing the central reservation and colliding with the pickup truck. Somying, a 58-year-old passenger in the sedan from Samo Khae subdistrict, Phitsanulok province, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband, Natee, who was driving the sedan, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Erawan Hospital. The pickup truck driver, 21-year-old Ratchapoom from Na Klang district, Nong Bua Lamphu province, was also severely injured. The collision left both vehicles with extensive front-end damage, and debris was strewn across the road, with the central barrier severely mangled. Police from Erawan Police Station have initiated an investigation to determine whether factors such as speeding, a mechanical issue, or driver error caused the crash. The road was partially closed for several hours as authorities worked to clear the wreckage and collect evidence. This incident has heightened local concerns about road safety along this stretch of Highway 210, an area notorious for serious accidents over the past year. Residents are urging the government to enhance safety measures, including the installation of improved signage, warning systems, and speed-reducing barriers, to avert future tragedies and ensure safer driving conditions on this high-risk road, reported The Thaiger. -- 2025-03-28 -

Big earthquake in CM just now!
Not so ignorant. I saw few times how employers deal with wounded "under-labor". Once he (some semi-boss a.k.a. local poo-yai) just dropped them near Phayathai hospital and drove away. The way they treat them is very, utterly arrogant. -

BREAKING NEWS Skyscraper comes down in Bangkok earthquake
Powerful earthquakes can make many buildings unsafe even if they remain intact after the first tremor. Evacuation is essential until the buildings can be inspected. I'm pretty sure if you were on the 20th or 30th floor of a highrise, you'd be out on the street, too. There's also a risk of aftershocks, which can collapse buildings weakened from the initial quake. As of 25 minutes ago, there were reports of 169 buildings damaged. RIP, crane operator.- 1
