Have you been scammed/overcharged at 7-11?

I brought somethings and it was 100baht 25 Satang , they wanted  the 25 satang , now that same 7/11 must return my 25 satangs in change which never did before ,I have to ask for it and they don’t like it but made me pay

Only similar incident I had was a particular cashier in Makro. Suspected a short-change the first time. Deliberately got in her line a few weeks later and corrected her politely when she short-changed me 100 baht. (Believe I posted about it somewhere after this incident.) Several weeks later same attempt and my immediate polite intervention got me the 100 baht. Then reported it all at the service desk. Didn't think I'd been taken seriously but I've never seen her again.

Those who say never are gullible,  often I have to question the bill, they don't apologise for their mistake and are reluctant to reimburse you, and they never take responsibility,  only talk back at you in thai, when they know you don't understand, but 98% of the time no issues.

7-11 employees are poorly paid people who probably hate their jobs.  Why would they bother to overcharge you so to enrich 7-11?  They are responsible for balancing receipts to payments at the end of their shift.

Or you are saying that they overcharge you, and then dip their hands into the till to steal that loot when nobody is watching?  Perhaps you aren't aware that 7-11s trust their employees less than customers and watch for thieving employees?

 

While I do not doubt that thievery may happen, but only as much as employees do in other shops, but they probably get caught faster.

I agree and a further "good" story on some store employees - yesterday we shopped at TOPPs in Latkrabang - after bagging up our buys, my wife said she forgot some yogurt of our daughter and returned to get that and just did the "you scan it" line  but paid with a 1000 baht bill but forgot to get the 500+ baht change.  An hour later at home she was phoned by the store to advise her about the money which the employee would keep and "owned" it to my wife via phone.  Honesty like this can give one a good feeling overall.

to get online shopping - small orders almost daily, have to register when you call in so they need your phone number

Never in 7-11, but once in a store here in Siem I overpaid by 1000 R (.25 cents) and the girl chased me down to give it back. I had her keep it and gave her dollar for honesty, so I paid USA prices for a lighter.

Not at a 7-11, but at another convenience store I caught them when they shorted my change by 100 baht.  Maybe it was deliberate, maybe it was a mistake.  Anyway, at that same store, another cashier once gave me 500 baht too much when I paid using a1000 baht bill.  I handed its right back to her.  

 

I suppose I should pay more attention to the transactions.

must be something about you. i've never had an issue with a 7/11 or, in fact, any shop in thailand.

 

though i can say 7/11s have on occasion given me too much change, and been thankful when i pointed this out

People make mistakes.  I've been given too much change on occasion at 7/11 and then return it as I don't want these kids having there paychecks docked.  But as far as being scammed.  No.

Had one teenage girl cashier in a Korat gas station 711 a few months ago count out the correct change, then look up at me with a guilty smirk and remove a 100 Baht note back into the till before handing it to me.

 

It's was so obvious it was almost amusing. I didn't even count the change, just left my hand there and told her to give me the other 100. Which she promptly did (sheepishly).

 

Generally they are very honest. Maybe less so in the bar areas.
