January 21, 20251 yr A Thai friend who had worked at 7 in Bangkok once told me that her manager instructed the cashiers to add items to the total that weren't selling well and/or items close to expiration date. It was usually done to customers who appeared to be tourists that were buying many items. The cashiers would put the extra items in the bag first so they'd be on the bottom. I bet most of the 'tourists' were none the wiser. As far as getting short-changed it has happened to me at 7/11 and Big-C over the years. One cheeky staff even announced in Thai to the other cashiers that he was going to keep some of my change. Recently at Big-C I paid with 1000 baht note and she gave me change in several 100 notes with two 50 baht notes on top without the receipt. That was easy to catch. Obvious red flags include no receipt given. When I told her my change was incorrect she immediately took another 100 baht note from the drawer. Always count your change.

January 21, 20251 yr The most frequent scam I've noticed is when they give a handful of 100 b notes in change instead of including a 500b note. I've caught the same teller shorting me 100b several times over a few months. Always count your change.
January 21, 20251 yr No, don't give them small change to make it even, most depend on what the register tells them. Been short changed, by giving change, but caught it as I always know approximate change in any situation.

I didn't know that he prohibition hours were being manually enforced at 711s, I thought that it was programmed into their system for alcoholic items to automatically be rejected when scanned during dry hours.

I recently popped in 7 to pick up a 20B coconut lip balm, whist their added a couple of bags of peanuts, when i paid the SMILING STUNNER girl to my surprise put all in a free bag... when i got home and opened the bag ...the silly cow forgot to put the 20B coconut lip balm in!!! STILL 20B ...for a nice looking SMILING Fox!

January 21, 20251 yr Got short changed more then once, double scanned items too at 7/11 or Family Markets. Once even at Tops in Central. On the other hand I got pointed out 2 for one items after I put only one into my basked. As everywhere, there are good and bad apples.

January 21, 20251 yr Not in my experience. I don't buy stuff at that shop very often. But I remember a few occasions where their barcoded price is not the same as the shelf price(@Tesco Lotus). When I report it to the Customer Service people, they usually correct it.

Utter Nonsense....Visit a Psychiatrist for your Paranoid! I have been in Thailand for over 20 years and the usual practice at 7/11 is that you get your change along with the receipt!
January 21, 20251 yr I don’t look at the change that I get back at stores. And if my change is just a few baht I don’t take it. I mean what is 3 cents, 6 cents 9 cents etc? To me it’s nothing. But When I’m there it’s a vacation not a place to pinch Pennie’s.
