I'm considering taking Metformin for off label reasons
I am a Type 2 diabetic. When I was diagnosed 31 years ago, I was prescribed Metformin. It did not agree with me and it gave me Bangkok Belly (the sh..ts). My doctor advised I started injecting insulin every day - which I continue to do to this very day!) -

All Thais to be required to file taxes from 2027
From the story on Phuket News. "BANGKOK: The Ministry of Finance has announced that every Thai citizen will be required to file personal income tax returns starting in 2027 as part of a sweeping reform aimed at creating a fairer and more efficient welfare system under the new ‘Negative Income Tax’ scheme." Sounds to me like if someone is getting social assistance from the government they will have to file a tax return but if they have a miserable income they will not have to pay any taxes. I do not qualify for the Thai welfare system so does not impact me but if all Thais have to file a tax return maybe foreigners that live here more than 180 days will be next. It is 2 years away so I am not going to worry about it at this point but found it interesting and I had not seen anything about it on Aseannow. -

Bank account frozen
You are jumping the gun a bit. When a bank says it is visa related, it cannot be assumed it has to do with funds for an extension. Back in 2014 I got an email saying I had to visit the branch and show passport or i would lose access to online banking. They wanted to check I had a long term visa, I had a Non O ME at the time and that was considered acceptable. In the last day or so a message has appeared on my phone from TTB that I must visit "a branch" with passport by 9th Sept 2025. Only a couple of week notice and I seldom take notice of messages, there was one on there for weeks about FATCA, ignored that one. If I don't go what is likely to happen. -

2025 SSA Form 7162 - "Hello, are you dead yet?" forms.
My servicing post office is also Taling Chang (10170) here in western Bangkok but my address is a house vs a PO box. I received my 7162 on 5 Aug.....two weeks ago. From my almost two decades experience with the Taling Chang post office they seem very reliable. Assuming you've be checking your PO box a couple times a week and since I got my 7162 two weeks before you then maybe SSA has staggered the "mailing-out" of the 7162 which all seem to be carrying a date of 31 July. Did yours also have the 31 July 2025 date in the upper right hand corner of the form? -
