Apologies for this massive assumption, but assuming all of the jobs paid about the same as the lower end on this NHS pay scale, that's over £300 billion.  Per year.  If a lot of these jobs are in the NHS then that's a lot of extra nurse, doctors and additional beds.  Or, another big issue in the UK is the lack of social care that means beds get blocked by patients who could leave hospital if they could get a bit of extra help.

 

Really brings one of the reasons for the NHS mess into focus.

Trump bragged "Day 1 " for Ukraine and "tariffs".  Now fudging which day is only relevant to MAGA dupes.

Putin will entertain Trump with cynical mirth he could not apply to Biden's instructed rhetoric .

There is no profitable incentive to "drill drill drill" for light crude already in excess  of demand.

The claim to net export is defined only in terms of refined petroleum export product vs imported heavy crude.

LNG export superiority only via  sanctions related to the contrived Ukraine and other significant geopolitical machinations designed to favor US oligarchs.

The auto industry has been failing for many years  and only now are attempts to revive sales volumes /profit being pointlessly attempted.

Isolationist policies will both fail industrial creation and relative competitive  value  and doom the US population to endure enduring crippling inflation and limited market choice.

IMO Trump's second (POTUS) honeymoon will not be happy by a relatively quick end.
