Thai Singer 'Tik Shiro' Says B24m Demand Is Too Much for Crash Settlement

In a tragic aftermath of a drink-driving incident, Thai rock singer Manaswin "Tik Shiro" Nuntasane has proposed a settlement offer of 4-5 million baht to the family of the two victims killed in a fatal road crash. The accident, which took place last October in Bangkok, has left the victims' family demanding 24 million baht, a figure they consider befitting the loss of both their children.

Tik Shiro, a well-known musician aged 63, was involved in a crash on October 10 when his vehicle collided with a motorcycle carrying siblings Thianporn, 28, and Chakkrapat Siwapornpitak, 21. The accident occurred on a bridge over Theparak Road in Bangkok's Sai Mai district.

Tragically, Thianporn was pronounced dead on the scene, while Chakkrapat, who sustained severe injuries, succumbed to them on January 18 after more than two months of hospitalisation.

Mr Jeerawat Siwapornpitak, the bereaved father, is steadfast in his appeal for a reevaluation of the offered compensation. The demand arises from the compounded grief of losing two children within three months, an unbearable pain he seeks recognition for in the proposed settlement.

Tik Shiro, in response to the family's anguish, expressed his willingness to not only compensate financially but also to dedicate a song to honour the lost siblings.

Proceeds from this tribute would be directed to the family's benefit. In an effort to clarify his stance, the singer engaged the media to articulate his perspective on the accident's aftermath, reassuring that his commitment has remained constant.

Ae, Tik Shiro's sister-in-law, affirmed that discussions with the victims' family over compensation have been ongoing since last year, with initial talks resulting in financial support amounting to 100,000 baht and later, additional contributions amounting to 75,530 baht for funeral expenses.

Moreover, the singer had offered a piece of land valued at 4-5 million baht in Nakhon Ratchasima as part of his compensation package. Despite these gestures, the compensation demanded by the victims' family stands significantly higher, set at 24 million baht as per the latest negotiations dated January 13.

The legal landscape for Tik Shiro has shifted, as authorities have now pressed a new charge for drink-driving causing deaths, a serious accusation carrying severe penalties under Thai law, reported Bangkok Post.

He should both pay and go to jail. The song he can take away, as that will only remind the family about this forever.

The kids had stopped their bike on a narrow bridge to pick up a dropped water bottle in the dark.
It was clearly an unfortunate accident caused by the kids stupidly.

I think 4 million is adequate. 24 million is just being greedy.

"...the singer had offered a piece of land valued at 4-5 million baht in Nakhon Ratchasima.."

Offering a useless piece of land hundreds of kms away from the family home shows his true nature. His own most likely inflated valuation would almost certainly never be realised by the family in any case considering the dire market in Thai real estate.

Absolutely nothing to do with him drunk driving then?

No, the narrow bridge made it impossible for Khun Tik to swerve out of the way of the kids who stopped in the middle of it unfortunately.

Mentioning the Darwin Awards in this case would be a bit harsh, but ……

It was not a narrow bridge, video after the crash shows at least 2 seperate lanes.

That’s a rhetorical question, right?

How can you be sure of that?

Statistics show that the vast majority of road deaths are caused by sober drivers.

Bog-off with your song, and stick your piece of land that you can afford to give away.

If you're only looking at the OP photo for your info  "the bloke in the middle did it"

Well, if you don't like it, you can take the 6 to 8 years of imprisonment for vehicular manslaughter while under the influence instead.. How about that?

Yes he was drink driving so normally 100% of blame is on you .in his defence he never tried to run away accepting responsibility immediately which many people would not do.

I'm sure our barstool lawyers would be arguing why stop for a stupid water bottle are you even allowed to be on the bridge?

Many countries have " blood money" compensation usually set by the court asides from your criminal prosecution

Yeah, but he wasn´t sober, and that gives him a slower reaction time. It also makes him a criminal according to the law.

You know the reason why........ you ****ing mo****.....the vast majority of drivers are not so ****ing dumb as to drive drunk....so if 99% of the population have the intelligence not to drink and drive...most of the accidents will involve drivers who are sober....FF*

99% not even close.

A recent survey showed most people do in fact drink drive.

If you go to any pub you will see everyone drink drives home. I was in a pub last night with over 40 people. Everyone drove home.
