snoop1130 Posted Friday at 09:46 AM Posted Friday at 09:46 AM Photo via Amarin TV By Petch Petpailin Police arrested a Thai woman for stealing 120,000 baht in cash and a mobile phone from a Russian victim in Pattaya on January 8. She confessed to spending most of the money on a holiday trip with her family. The 37 year old Russian man, Xavier, filed a complaint with officers at Bang Lamung Police Station on January 8, reporting that his black bag was stolen outside a convenience store in Soi Na Kluea 8, in the Bang Lamung district of Pattaya. The bag contained 120,000 baht in cash, his mobile phone, and personal documents. Xavier admitted that he and his friends had been drinking alcohol at a table outside the store, and when they returned to their accommodation, he realised he had left his bag on the table. Police reviewed the security footage and observed a suspicious Thai woman and her daughter move from another table to sit at the victim’s table after he and his friends had left. The woman then took Xavier’s bag and quickly placed it in her plastic bag. The two then rushed to board a baht bus and left the scene. The woman was identified as a local from Samut Prakan province near Bangkok, rather than Pattaya. She and her family returned to their home province on the same day. As her identity was clearly visible in the video, police traced her whereabouts and arrested her on January 23. The woman admitted to the theft and claimed that she had used the stolen money to pay her car instalment and fund the holiday trip to the beach with her family. The suspect was charged under Section 335 of the Criminal Law for committing theft at night. The penalty is imprisonment of one to five years and a fine ranging from 20,000 to 100,000 baht. Dave0206 Posted Friday at 09:14 PM Posted Friday at 09:14 PM I like the idea she used the money for a beach holiday here's me thinking the beach is about 1km from where she was. Silly woman stealing at night much more honourable stealing in daylight 2

Now she must face losing her mom to jail for doing such a thing, especially with the daughter present to witness it.

Ctkong Posted yesterday at 01:43 AM Posted yesterday at 01:43 AM How many people would not take something valuable left on a chair and owner had gone missing ? Would they take it to the authority for safe keeping until the rightful owner come to claim the belonging ? I think not. There are many Thais who are Buddhists in name but actually not practicing Buddhism. A good buddhist would not crave other people’s belonging and wouid accept their current life as their karma.

So CCTV does work if the BIB would only consult it before an incident. Would Pattaya cops have bothered if the victim was not a foreign tourist? 1
Jim Blue Posted yesterday at 03:48 AM Posted yesterday at 03:48 AM Do they have bank accounts and ATM s in Russia ?
garygooner Posted yesterday at 04:41 AM Posted yesterday at 04:41 AM If I had a bag with a loada cash I would be gripping it tightly for good.

Bugger all to do with the Buddhist faith. Thou shall not steal is the 8th of the Christian faith's Ten Commandments, 7th if you're a Catholic. So, what would the good Christian do?
henryford1958 Posted yesterday at 05:35 AM Posted yesterday at 05:35 AM So she didn't steal it, he lost it.
J Branche Posted yesterday at 05:37 AM Posted yesterday at 05:37 AM So as it was paid with stolen money, the bank, debt holder for car would be required to return the money. The lady would owe all outstanding debt and any late fees. The foreigner would need to win a court case that he is owed. Can a subordinate lien be placed on the car? Nice to continually read that there is an abundance of people, who are willing to part with large amounts of cash with very little effort to safeguard the money.

She stole the money, if important documents were inside, they had his name on them. Did she contact the Police and report the property was left by someone?

Is it really theft if you find some stuff someone else has voluntarily abandoned? We used to refer to that as "finders keepers" when I was a kid. 1
