Why such a scum attracted such a high brass officers? It is just a pity farang ding-dong, a roach from the Middle East.

56 years old and doing switcharoo with 24 notes in Pattaya?

I think those officers gathered to have a looksie at such a moron.

Looks like you're signing up for judge, jury, and executioner. Roach from the ME? Seriously?

I am paranoid about this.  I do bring US currency with me as backup.  I bring $100 notes I get direct from a bank and with zero defects.  I wonder if this guy knew they were counterfeit or not.

Of course he will claim to be totally innocent, that he received the notes from someone else, preferably outside of Thailand. If he has any brains that's what he will claim. So the real truth will never be known.

Should go back to his room and see if he has some more.

They would initially charge him with the crime whether he knew it or not. Then decide later after their investigation if they intend to prosecute. So there is a chance he did not know they were fake. Depends on where he got them from.

News report I saw suggested he knew very well they were fake..... and he had admitted to it. Also that he got them in Israel.

For the confused, and you must be stupid not to understand this, the word farang refers to white Europeans, and the word comes from the Sanskrit for the Franks.

It does not apply to dark skinned people from the Middle East, Africans, other Asians etc.

ohh i am not so sure. When i used to travel back and forth to China, i would always ask for 50 dollar notes from the bank. They are easier to exchange.

40,000 baht does not seem a lot for taking with you on holiday.

Now if the man has more in his rental unit in Thailand. Then perhaps he was a counterfeiter. And maybe he really is. But there is room for doubt.

During WWII the Nazis used jewish craftsmen and artists to counterfeit British  money and American money that proved to be very, very good. Could be he is one of the offspring of   one of those? Just a thought!

By your definition, there are numerous Israeli 'farangs.' A significant proportion of Jewish Israelis are of European descent or heritage, and many are indeed white.

Based on the picture the accused Israeli is decidedly white in color so ipso facto a farang in Thailand.

Yes many Israelis are darker in color ot even Ethiopian.

But not this guy.

Middle East (incl. Israel) was and is flooded with all sorts of counterfeits: ID, passports and banknotes. 90s and few years of this century they operated quite successfully in Bangkok.

The word farang comes from Thai, the same word (just ask any Thai) means guava, the guava fruit found in Thailand is very white (there's also the red guava), so any light skinned person is a farang in Thailand.
