Phone, wallet, cards, cash, passport. All of it. With no id, phone or likely memory of any phone numbers he could be struggling right now to make contact with people. Then he would need to make phone calls, speak to the Embassy and hope they're in the building that week, etc. Waste of Time even Calling The BRITISH Embassy THEY Won't help !! 1 1 2

Goinghomesoon Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Media is now reporting that Mr Sangwine has been found deceased, with a statement from UK FCDO confirming they are assisting family. No matter the choices someone makes in life, a death is always terrible for his family. RIP Mr Sangwine.

Yeah @Goinghomesoon sort of assumed that with a previous poster showing the family on just giving. If that is the case extremely sad for his family and RIP the dude. I have trawled the internet as this one resonated with me, being the same age as him when I first came to the country. I can't find anything online looked on the FCDO site also and hit the AI's might be a while before the mainstream media report on it I guess. Massive shame and would be worth finding out exactly what happened to him as this would be good advice to anyone to avoid the possible pitfalls in the country that hosts us. I'm getting a lot older now and have always said and maintain to say if I am going to go in a country this would be my choice.

I know ChatGPT doesnt know everything but says the below only suggesting unverified reports
PomPolo Posted February 4 Posted February 4 The just-giving page also looks a little sketchy there is no mention of who the person requesting the money was to him https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/julie-nolan-day1 These guys only left 20 quid on the page and have the same surname, if my family dies I am giving them more than 20 quid, hopefully it is just me being cynical, as I still hold out hope until it is confirmed that he has met misadventure rather than speculative assumptions.

I know ChatGPT doesnt know everything but says the below only suggesting unverified reports The Essex Live (their local paper) and while much of the info is from the JustGiving page it also has a statement from FCDO in the last paragraph "We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Thailand and we are in contact with the local authorities." www.essexlive.news/news/essex-news/essex-dad-dies-after-going-9917977?utm_source=mynewsassistant.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=embedded_search_item_desktop 1

I am guessing there is no official statement as yet as they prefer to keep the news local out of respect to the family. I think the longer I have lived in Thailand the more cynical I have become, but have genuine feelings about this story, and the guy was from a few miles away from where my brother lives.
PomPolo Posted February 4 Posted February 4 To continue the conspiracy theories do you not think Thai news outlets would have reported this if there was a foreigner found dead in their country? I know they don't like bad publicity but not very often a dead farang goes under the radar and gets reported by a tiny local newspaper in England first that has no information in the story about the circumstances around his misadventure other than a copy and paste of the just giving site and an unconfirmed statement from the foreign office? I have even got my misses on the case reading all Thai language news sites and keeping up with her Facebook and TikTok which she is good at and she has found nowt!
proton Posted February 4 Posted February 4 No travel insurance then, and the usual appeal to strangers for thousands to bring a dead body back, that they will probably cremate anyway. Do it here and post him back. Was he fished out of the river then, or was it drugs or heart attack? 1

Half of my life spent in my home county and half (give or take here) and have to admit that sadly you are correct, I love this country more than anything, it might be the LOS, and the land of reinventing yourself but if you are not prepared for it will also be the land to chew you up and spit you out. I am still holding out hope until I see an official report of the fate of this guy rather than from some local newspaper using copy and paste and unverified quotes. It is a sht situation and the mystery just increases with the lack of credible and verifiable information with this situation.
