People who stand up and crowd the aisle as soon as the plane lands, when the doors aren’t even open why do you do that?
Just a question and would want to know people’s reasoning behind it ..
The seatbelt sign is still and there’s an echoing of seat belt clicks …
People scurrying to gather their belongings , yet the exit doors are still closed,
They stand impatiently shuffling until the doors open .. Then if you have to jump on a transfer coach you still have to wait for everyone else to get on
And go through the same security and passport control and then on to the same baggage reclaim as everyone else ..
You are literally stressing yourself out

On the way into the plane, it's similar. As soon as the airline employees come to the gate, people stand up and wait in a row. The row is getting longer and longer, and people wait and wait. What

So... on the subject of air-travel, standing up before the seatbelt sign has turned off... People in a rush to 'deplane'....  etc.   What about those who stand so closely to the baggage

I wait til  most everyone is gone  being sat at the back  in the "economy" class

there is no reason to rush to get out  (upon successful landing 😋 )

On a recent  EVA Air return to Bangkok  some passengers gave a round of applause upon successful landing  I quietly thanked the deities too  as the turbulence near ground just before the runway was quite bone shaking !

I sit and read a book or something like that.

I agree that it is just stupid to get up and stress yourself that you have to wait standing. What's the point?

100% agree....    this behavior varies depending on 'origin and destination' of flight and can perhaps be associated with the socio-education of the majority of passengers.

i.e. flying into a <deleted>hole... and passengers are literally climbing over each other to get off first.

Meanwhile, flying from Japan to Thailand (or Thailand to Japan) and the final procedures of the flight are far less chaotic.

BUT... other than the mindless empty headed 'got to get off' mentality, I think there is another facet at play....  Overhead Luggage...

.... Sometimes there isn't space over someones seat and they have to put it somewhere else, then when the plane comes to a stop... they're straight up to attempt to beat the rush.

---------

As mentioned... Some routes are far more 'civilised' than others.

Years ago, flying domestically within Indonesia....  (West Papua to Jakarata I think)...  the air-craft slowed to a halt, but clearly was not at the gate.

I had an aisle seat and remained seated. The youngish lady (in a Hijab) next to me tried to climb over me !!!...  the planed moved again and she ended up sitting on my lap...

...  I pointed out the seatbelt sign was not off and we weren't at the gate.

Minutes later we were chatting away and she was showing me photos... She was a Teaching inspector and had been visiting numerous schools...

... A lovely lady, however, I have no idea why she felt such urgency to get off the air-craft that she felt the need to climb over me !!!

....  the behaviour of people is something that really interests me...

Even the behavior and responses of some of the nastier bigoted kinds on this forum... I'm often left what drivers their stupidity.

Do that before descent starts.

But if you are in the aisle seat, and stay seated, you may get dirty looks or abuse from the two other pax on your row.

I find it that those in rows behind you, usually let the ones in front get into the aisle first when getting off, or is it de-planing these days.

Isn't it amazing that such a great machine can get 2-300 pax all that way, and yet they all have to get out thru one door, unless a 380 or similar.

But you can do that mid flight.... Is there any urgent need to do this before the seatbelt sign is turned off after landing ?

On a recent flight (internal Middle East flight) - the aircraft came to a stop, seatbelt sign remained on...  half the flight got up and started removing their baggage.

Such was the commotion the cabin crew had no control....  Captain came on and told everyone to sit down... Luggage was left everywhere in the aisle... sliding down the plane...    Quite amusing, but typical of the mayhem and lack of social awareness and civility of the area's I'd been in.

I stand up to stretch my  legs, nothing whatsoever to do with “trying to go somewhere”.

See my and Richard's answers. Do it mid flight, before descent starts.

I sleep the whole flight.

I normally sit until most others are through the gate. Until now the plane never left without me. Somehow most passengers haven't worked out that part.

I do that already

I already do that mid flight. You are wrong again as I never do it before the seatbelt sign is turned off.

Oh, in your last post you said that you get up on landing to strtch your legs. Make your mind up.

It does depend on 'hand carry'....

Usually, I'm in the 'leave boarding as late as permissible crowd'...

But very recently, we were had a lot of kit with us and had reached or check-in weight limit... we had had a lot of hand carry.... the kit was a necessity for our trip....

... So, I wanted to ensure we could 'secure our carry on' in the overhead bins.... thus, was quite keen to get on and secure that space.

Fair enough then....    (though Nick did point out the 'seat belt sign is still on')

So sleep 'the whole flight' and then stand up on landing, waiting for doors to open and pax before you to go out of the one door available.

Oh, you’re having problems understanding. Here it is again: I stand up before landing to stretch my legs and I stand up upon landing (when allowed to) to again stretch my legs.

Yes, if carry on is needed for the trip eg baby food etc, but most overheads, or 'Hat Racks' as Emirates still call them, are not opened during the flight.

It's usually the Thais or Asians in my experience. They unbuckle themselves as soon as the plane touches down (can hear a symphony of clicks) and as soon as the plane stops they're up getting their luggage from the overhead compartments.

Nothing wrong with that at all....   Just slightly out of context with the Ops point.

Would be a good idea to have 'locks' on the seatbelts controlled by the Pilot whenever the sign is on.

Or a big red light above any pax who ignores the light.

Or how about when boarding. The nano second the gate even opens (nevermind them calling to board) you have people standing forming a line.

Correct! Nothing to do with going anywhere, it’s about regular stretching whenever possible.

Yep ok. Thanks.

But not immediately after landing.

Nope... maybe confirmation bias etc...

Flights around the Middle East are a nightmare for the 'post landing circus'...

Meanwhile flights to and from Japan are the epitome of 'civilised calm' in comparison...

Flights within Europe are also pretty resonable...

I think in some area's...   (routes) there are a number of people who's cultural psyche means they operate under the 'FOMO mentality' (fear of missing out)... so everyone cause everyone else to stand up and people fear they'll get stuck unable to get off the plane, or be delayed somehow, consequently it turns into an uncivilised ruck.
