In a twist on accountability, a resident of Khon Kaen has volunteered to serve jail time on behalf of his two dogs. The canines, Damdam and Dookdik, caused a stir when they unexpectedly chased a 14-year-old motorcyclist, leading to a car accident on February 16 in Mueang Nong Ko subdistrict.

 

The entire incident, captured on CCTV, quickly went viral, drawing public attention and concern. The dogs' owner explained that the dogs, who are usually friendly, escaped through a back fence on that fateful day. He realized the seriousness of the situation only after viewing the footage online.

 

 

Local teenagers allegedly provoked the dogs, causing them to bark at passing motorcycles. Despite being unemployed and unable to offer financial compensation, the owner is willing to face imprisonment for the incident.

 

Police Colonel Prasat Naen-udon from Kranuan Police Station confirmed that an amicable settlement was reached, courtesy of the car's first-class insurance. No legal charges have been filed against the dogs. The owner has since taken steps to ensure the dogs remain securely restrained to prevent future escapes, reported The Thaiger.

Yes. Uncontrolled dogs are dangerous. My pal is still recovering after a dog ran into his bike's front wheel and threw him off. He is still in a wheelchair after nearly two weeks. Looking at the video both the boy on the bike and the motorist were in the wrong by speeding across an intersection. Yes. The dogs didn't help.

I feel for the driver of that car, his insurance premium is going to go up, while he was just there.

They way I read this is that the insurance company covering the motorcycle covered the accident of an underage Thai illegally driving the insured motorcycle - or - the insurance company of the owner of the car the under-aged illegal motorcyclist plowed into covered the accident. That's about par for the course here in the LOS.

Dogs must've been Thai breeds, they fled the scene

Everyone Knows that But No one Cares ,they do whatever they want .

Laws are there to be broken ,People are specialist in that here in Los.

Can't count on the cops to enforce the law  they don't adhere to the law themself.

The boy was only wrong for driving. Not for his actions while being chased and threatened by attack from those dogs. The motorist was not at fault at all. The man who owns the dogs was responsible for not ensuring they were locked up from trying to attack passersby. This is a problem that happens everywhere. The man deserves to be praised. Not many a Thai would accept their responsibility for such an instance. Most dogs on the street have owners but when something happens caused by the dogs, They become stray and soi dogs only being fed by their owners. No responsibility is ever accepted.

Maybe their brakes failed  

The fact that the tool riding the motorbike illegally or his parents were complicit in allowing him to don’t even come into the equation .

I wonder how many foreigners setting up their new lives with their eyes full of fairy dust see their new Fortuna devalued to a worthless condition by these utter morons

The boy on the bike was being chased by the dogs and probably panicking.
The car driver was not speeding across the intersection. If it had been speeding, it would not have been able to stop so quickly.

The irony is if he had just have shot or macheted someone he's never see a day behind bars, fair play for the love of his dogs

What's your point? You think the boy should have been left to die without treatment because he was riding without a license?

The government is at fault for not preventing these dog incidents. Dogs rule in Thailand, there'll be many other incidents of people being harmed by them tomorrow.

AFAIK Thai laws have not changed yet and a bike licence is a bike licence with no regard to the engine size. Yes, they were talking about making different categories according to size but again - AFAIK nothing changed yet. I'll know for sure next month after I renew my licence.

 

Whilst not impossible, it is difficult for dogs to bite your leg on a motorbike or bicycle. It is important not to panic.

Accidents like that every minute dogs or not - underage / speeding on small residential lane and not slowing at intersections / no helmet
