These are the same IT whixkids  who are going to organise and implement a new taxation system for foreigners.

I don't think anyone is really surprised it doesn't work.

So 50% were not recorded correctly.?

Probably explains why I was pulled up last entry.

Asked if I had another name.

A middle name (James)

He was a person of interest they explain to me.

Not a nice person they say.

I convinced them I wasn't him

And actually a nice person lol.

But about 15 minutes to sort out.

Thailand has fairly secure borders and does a good job of Policing them imo. They are neighbours of poorer countries and so there's always going to be major problems in this regard.

Only have to look at the UK to what a disaster is happening there.

I like Rangsiman, he seems to be a Thai politician that knows what he is talking about and is not afraid to bring issues like this to the fore.

"Thailand has fairly secure borders and does a good job of Policing them imo," that stuff you're smoking is far too strong, it really has numbed your brain..

Step in Bill Gates to microchip every foreigner!

That is soooooo Thailand. That answers my question about why they find so many criminals here.

Great job guys!

An upgraded system requiring a substantial budget is in development

Yes, throw some money at the police, they seem to have a good track record:

Thailand desperately wants tourism, but does not seem to care about the consequences of the numbers, or the quality of tourists. It's all about jacking those numbers up to the highest level possible.

When you do that you have to pay for it, and if you're too cheap to be willing to pay for the correct systems, the correct procedures, the correct software, and the correct experts you're going to pay a price for that negligence and oversight.

They need Lazada to do thier systems.

Works great for me (Lazada) lol

Get all the bar girls to drop off sperm samples with a copy of the donors passport.

Any 7/11 would do as a drop off point

Imm won't be able to track everyone, but it won't cost 2.1 bil baht either

Rangsiman Rome for president! Someone who is not scared to tell the truth.

President? Of which country would he be President?

It’s interesting that there is nothing wrong with the system per se. The article talks of the system being maxed out and of unpaid license fees. So the issue is, as usual, one of maintenance.

Whether it’s tsunami warning systems, speed cameras or immigration systems, they can all be installed and work correctly at first, but give it a few months or a year and gradually it all breaks down due to no maintenance being performed.

Why? Well maintenance is low cost and low margin, therefore low opportunities to skim off the top. Big new installations to replace poorly maintained systems/equipment are a gravy train.

"it could take up to 29 months to reinstate a functioning system, with procurement yet to commence."

29 months to fix a plug-and-play sytem! I thought when they bought the package off the shelf it had been already tested  and considered "idiot" proof". Obviously not "Thai" proof (smile).

probably following the UK and trying to save the data with excel or access. the UK managed to max it out as well.

They have already introduced facial recognition boarding passes, at least for domestic flights.  I’ve already used the system and it works well.  Thai Airways makes people board by group number but if you registered your face when you checked in at a kiosk you can board anytime. It’s great if you have carry on bags.

Just took a domestic flight this morning none of what you say is true.  All the facial recognition screens were blocked with a large X.

You can't beat getting your visitors to fill in a form, which is why I do my 90 in person as I don't trust anything that the Muppets come up with as far as technology is concerned.

When they first revamped the system it worked ok for me for 2 years albeit a bit clunky then all of last year despite getting it submitted ok it was ,as reported by others, getting rejected. Asking at the office on visits just elicited the unhelpful clueless, "Error". There's just no consistency, not effective management and a culture of 1 step forward then 1 step back. But I benefitted for 2 years... TIT

This is what happens when you give major contracts to friends or siblings who have no idea how to do anything except kiss up.  Extrapolate that onto the whole country and you have thailand.  The amount of incompetence up top is mind blowing.

the system's capacity was maxed out,

I think you can safely double that 17 million figure, maybe even triple it.

Rangsiman, chairing the House Committee on National Security, revealed that since the licensing for the system expired, the Bureau has only been capturing facial images and fingerprints, not true biometric data.

If a license has expired, most systems stop working as intended...:whistling:

Truth, integrity and honor in politics? I don't see much of that here, and I don't see much of that anywhere in the world right now, especially in America.

Having lived and worked overseas for the past 60+ years, I noticed the same problems everywhere, EUR, US, Asia, Africa, Central America - politicians all seem about the same - some good most not.
