As per the title, if you eat lots of ship/prawns, what's your preferred brand that hopefully does not use antibiotics and other toxic additives to keep the shrimp healthy?

Brand? Buy them live or at least at a fresh market.

love prawns, I buy em fresh from the naklua fish market... Not sure what brand they are.

They are fresh and cheap and taste good at the fresh market.

For curries, stir fries, prawn cocktail, etc. I buy "Yummy Tale" easy peel shrimp (frozen) from Tops. It's nice to have a couple of packs in the freezer when the urge takes me.

What are you trying to talk about? Are you posting that you buy frozen prawns just because a specific brand? That´s lunacy, as Thailand have great fresh markets that sell them. If you live close to a beach, you can even go to beach markets in the morning, and get then directly from the boat.

Also keep on hand.  Picked up 2 bags yesterday, peeled, deveined & no tails.  I live minutes from surfside & fresh markets ... will still always buy frozen, as actually 'fresher' ... IMHO

Frozen prawns? No thank you. They are not the same. Damages their cell structure.

no particular brand.

as I believe shrimp inevitably contain toxins, I only consume them once a month.

good luck if you eat them every day. 

all seafood is highly contaminated, as far as I know.

AFAIK - Most prawns/shrimp that are bought at the markets and restaurants here are farmed. They have never been near the sea. Same goes for frozen shrimp/prawns - even seabass (most mussels, scallops, and other shellfish too).

In my area (Sattahip) squid is the only seafood I know that is locally fished from the sea and available in local markets/restaurants. I see the Bang Saray squidboats going out to sea most evenings with their green/white lights dotted across the night horizon.

Actually 400gr net ... I prefer to just use shrimp as 'shrimp cocktail', cold with a bit of wasabi spiced up sauce.   Most seafood I don't put in sauces or curries, as too delicate a flavor and get overpowered easily.

Ocean Brand Only . No Farmed and Fresh water  ones.

Gourmet Market in BKK carries Q brand frozen shrimp  that are quite tasty and 

reasonably priced.  Instant shrimp cocktail...just defrost.  Deveined, cooked and

ready to go.

Frozen are processed / frozen right after harvesting and or processed.   Fresh (or thawed) have been off the ice and sitting around how long ?  I've never bought frozen protein that was softer than normal, slimy or smelled off.  

 

Seafood should not smell fishy, if fresh ... good luck with that, when buying so called 'fresh'.

 

You actually think your fresh shrimp wasn't frozen at some point, especially if you aren't buying at the docks.
