Controversy Erupts as Thailand Claims Uyghurs Chose Deportation

Can you confirm or correct my understanding but I thought the Southern state Sultan swore allegiance to the Thai King and it was that fact  that gave Thailand the OK to go and annex the South states after Britain said that they have no interest in them?

The Thais claimed sovereignty over 11 of the Malay sultanates, 7 of which form part of modern Malaysia, and 4 were later annexed by Thailand.

The British were favoured over the Siamese as they brought prosperity rather than violence and tyranny:

This was to be contrasted against  the bureaucracy Siam was establishing in Patani, and which it had briefly attempted to establish in Kedah. In both, Siam’s first major public gesture consisted of violently deposing Malay Muslim rulers and replacing them with hand-picked successors, styled as “governors” and monitored by Siamese officials. These humiliations generated a crisis of moral authority.

Those Muslims are terrorists? Yes?

Let Chinese government deal with their own people. Thailand should have deported them long ago.

What a load of BS  there is NO evidence of that group being Terrorist  their only crime if you can call it a crime is 11yrs ago they enterd Thailand without a visa

Yep, you can, that's a crime.  Just like when people do it in your home country, and you don't like it, along with wanting them punished and or deported back to where they came from.

I DO ... same same .... NOT different, they are criminals.

The PM and Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai are extreme cowards, hiding behind fake assurances from a heinous government that cannot be trusted for a nanosecond. They know better, we know better, everybody knows that Thailand should have had the moral courage to stand up to China on this one, and they completely dropped the ball, and the egg that is all over their faces is well-deserved.

What was the reason Britain just didn't take the other for states? May be a trade off over disputed territory between Burma and Thailand?
