Well, we certainly don't want to talk through our noses, like Americans do.

It baffles me why the thread title is any way connected to the subject matter, although I suppose bigots can forge anchor chains out of gossamer.

I omitted a "w" somewhere there.

If a Texas guy won "woman of the year", I'd pull out my best Chicago accent and start talking about da Bears.  Good thing is, that ain't gonna happen.

Edit:  Except maybe in Austin, which is now known as East California.

I have been in both places. Texans take longer to say something.

Don't forget that there is more than one orifice through which talking can be, metaphorically, accomplished.

We are (as a nation) ashamed.

We do apologise.

Shoot thems.

I struck up a conversation with an Aussie last week in Kanchanaburi.  Turned out he's a bigger Trump fan than I am.

He told me you guys have elections coming up this year, and he's hoping for a change.  What's your bet?

'First Nations' really the one term.

Which is complete and utter BS, because Kooris are tribes, not nations.

Before the Sydney Olympics, the city elders paid lucrative incentives for Kooris in Redfern to move to Wilcannia, hoping to avoid racial friction.

When the city dwellers moved there, Wilcannia became a war zone. AFAIK it still is, steel doors and bars on every window in town when I was there 5 years ago.

When you are 10 yo. a year seems to last forever. 10% of the life span.

When you are 50, 2%.

You're right, they are wooshing by.

It's interesting Canadians refer to their First Nations in the same ironic tone we do. Americans don't bother, they use Native American.

Thanks for putting me straight L.

Don't change the fact that all the settlers, and descendants of the convicts, should be paying rent to their landlords does it?
