I must admit to not have bothered to read all the bickering so I may have missed something in this thread, but might this be virtually nothing to do with politics (rightist, leftist, racist or communist) and more to do with a business deal?  Lots of minerals in Ukraine apparently, and Trump & Putin are carving up the spoils?  No evidence, just my guess.

 It's not for me to support either the Reps or the Dems, so no agreement or disagreement from me.  But I did do a search to see if I could buy a cardboard box that could get put up in the election.  I found these in the process... 😆🙈

With Congress emasculated by the power of money and the associated fear of being primaried, appropriate gerrymandering, and some energetic voter suppression, the courts under control and the media "brought into the fold", I suspect that they think that they can get away with going down the "Putin road"! That only leaves the executive branch to worry about, and there they have plenty of room for maneuver!

Possibly, but I would bet Trump tries to completely end elections.   We will see if any republicans senators grow a spine and try to stop him.
