having said that, security guards in bar areas should be trained to talk away or take down these drunkards nicely. Shoud not get agitated by idiot drunks. But hard to find such mature guys here to work as guard.

TBF, a lot of this type of thing used to happen in Australia.

 

They had thugs on the doors who just used to smash the crap out of people.

 

The government finally acted and now you have to do an accredited course and get a security licence to become a doorman..

 

It weeded a lot of the boofheads out.

 

That's never going to happen in Thailand I don't think.

Same in the UK - doormen have to have a licence.

As an ex-Bouncer for pubs and clubs in Oxford and doing security for bands at the Oxford Apollo I never had to resort to punching anyone. It was all about talking them down and having a conversation. These "thugs" as people call them, have a reason for being like they are, and if you can find out what that is you can talk about it. Clearly, this couldn't work in Thailand because most Thai Bouncers can't speak English. 

First of all we don.t know what the old bloke did that upset the guard as it was a pretty vague report. Did he make a big problem with one of the girls or other staff....did he refuse to pay his bin ?? .We don't know. he must have done something bad as the guard was definately gonna make him pay and give him a thumping because he took of his uniform first before he hit him and then like a coward took off in the crowd.

I find these guards/bouncers fairly reasonable.

 

I've had disputes in bars when Mamasan's have added their drinks to my bill after asking me for one and me clearly saying No. 

 

As long as you are calm and explain the situation they are fine. They are not looking to attack people for no reason.

 

This idiot was obviously looking for trouble and got more than he could handle. Same thing would happen if you squared up to a club bouncer in any UK city.

A security guards job is NOT to punch anyone unconcious or hurt anyone for that matter. His or hers job is to calm down and bring stability, detain if  necessary but never ever hurt or punch! No matter how stupid the potential custiomer is or how much any one thinks "he deserved it"!
One punch can kill someone, even in Pattaya..

Maybe, the guard tried that too many times, and have a bad record in trying to talk to drunk Brits. It´s definitely not easy. I´ve tried myself, and give my full support to the guard.
