How many poor Thais will be allowed into the casino?

Rich Thais, yes

So if only rich Thais and tourists will will be affected and lose money, why does if matter to you?

BTW rich Thais rarely spend time gambling and losing, that is one reason that they are rich.

The issue is the likelihood that middle class Thais will become poor Thai’s due to gambling losses. The average rural farmer already tend to lose their money playing cards or on illegal lotteries, so may not be affected by casinos. But middle class Thais will have another avenue to becoming poor.

The government will ignore the people over profits for the mega rich. Put it to a national vote.

Looks like a few dozen protesters out there protesting against something relatively silly, there should be millions upon millions of people out there protesting against a democratically unelected gove

Might be true, might not. But in reality it’s just an unsubstantiated rumour not backed up by fact

You're free to believe or not.

Who cares? 🤣

They do need to find a way that allows in rich Thais only. I just can't imagine how they could do this.

Slavery in modern world.

It is often the common problem in the 3rd world countries.

There are quite a few cases where the parents of the very poor families sell their children for own survival/to clear their "Debt".

Quite easy to reach for the info, related to that issue.

Any info that relates to Thailand?

Some news from this kingdom.

Mother sells her underage daughter to clear her debts - Pattaya Mail

And among very poor family in Thailand, it is not rare that their daughters work as prostitute in the place like Pattaya and other red light districts of various areas(incl. BKK), to send money to their parents back home.

There are heaps of such people from northern and northeastern regions of this kingdom, as well from the background of urban poor.

Haven't you heard anything like this by now, while you have been here for ages/

Pretending you are born yesterday?

Not quite right. Extremely poor will be unaffected. The rich ones frequently visiting the casinos will become poorer.

Why October?

TBH, I don't know why the sh@t always hits the fan in Bangkok in October, but that seems to be the month that the biggest (and sometimes violent) demos reach their feverish pitch. It's also the worst of the rainy season too (just incidentally). The 2014 Coup happened in October, as did the one in 1977 and the bloodiest of all in October 1976. There were coups in other months too, but it just seems that the opposing sides (the wealthy-establishment troika vs opponents and vice versa - particlalry red shirts - yellow shirts over last 20 years) starts during the hottest time of the year - (around March/April) and often climaxes around October.

I think there might be a handful like that, but the majority do it because it's easy work that pays well.

Unemployment is low in Thailand and it wouldn't be hard for most to get a job in a factory or shop, but that is long hours and low pay.  There's a lot more money to be made laying down.

It's kind of a cliché for a bargirl to claim that she has been forced into the job by someone else, when really she just likes the easy money.

...Casinos Are Notorious For Providing 'Cover' For All Manner Of Illicit Activities...

...That Should Speak Volumes...

I agree 💯. But Thailand's elite are greedy. So the casino will go ahead. Leading the way for further money laundering corruption. On the pretense of giving jobs to the poor. And putting money into pockets of the Thaksin's.

It brings more farrang.  More money.  More bar girls.  We all see the increase of farrangs in the village's.  So some won't be going to Pattaya or phuket now. until it builds more!and they will.

But the average farmer will not be allowed to enter the casinos, and where will they get the money from to gamble for higher stakes?

What a terrible analogy

What is terrible about that? The more you stake, the more you win., but the more you stake the more you will lose if you don't win. It is called common sense.
