German Tourist Severely Beaten in Pattaya by Group of 10 Men

A German tourist was violently attacked by a group of about ten men on Pattaya Beach Road in Chonburi. Local police in Pattaya swiftly arrested three suspects involved in the assault, which has tarnished the city's reputation as a tourist destination.

 

The incident occurred around 4:06 am on 25th March, with emergency services and police quickly arriving on the scene following reports of an assault.

 

The victim, identified as Mr. David Adrian Lelonek, 40, suffered extensive injuries, including facial wounds and a laceration above his left eyebrow. Rescuers promptly provided first aid before rushing him to hospital.

 

Mr. Lelonek, speaking through a translator, informed the police that he was unsure of the attack's details but recalled being overwhelmed by approximately ten attackers. In a panic, he fled on a motorbike to seek help from locals until authorities arrived.

 

 

 

 

Eyewitness footage recorded by a bystander showed the severity of the assault, with the gang punching, kicking, and even using a helmet to beat the tourist, despite onlookers' attempts to intervene.

 

Pattaya's Deputy Investigation Chief, Police Lieutenant Colonel Arus Saphanont, quickly led an investigation, resulting in the arrest of three men nearby: Mr. Ta, 18, Mr. Benz, 25, and Mr. Sek, 27.

The suspects admitted to their involvement, claiming they misunderstood the situation as a fellow motorbike taxi driver was involved, and wanted to defend him, even acknowledging their excessive violence.

 

Police Lieutenant Colonel Arus expressed deep concern over the assault captured in the video, highlighting its damaging impact on Pattaya's image.

 

He urged locals not to resort to violence, stressing the importance of involving police in such incidents to preserve the city's appeal and economy. The investigation remains ongoing to apprehend the remaining attackers as the injured tourist pursues formal charges, reported Daily News.

Tarnished Pattaya??? I think at this moment whole Thailand is suffering of getting a worse image to tourists.. The strict enforcement of laws as vaping, alcohol sales, helmet wearing and assault, scams are doing more harm than good for the whole  tourist industry...But who cares with a failing RTP and justice system

I would have thought that rather than a damaging impact on Pattaya’s image, it would serve more as an advertisement to the kind of people that want to go there.

You mean like, he started beating up 10 guys, and they only acted in self-defense?

Regardless of what is left out of the story, there is NEVER an excuse for 10 cowards beating up 1 guy.

Don't know where I implied 10 folks taking part was justified, but spin your reply any way you wish.  Quite normal replies here, and nothing to do with my post.

I don't see the motorbike taxi that was hitting him in the head with the helmet as one of the three arrested. That's the guy that did the most damage to him. They should stop blurring the faces of these thugs.

I am not a violent person, and would almost certainly lose a one-on-one fight with most locals.

But even if I was in a position to win, you never win. They come back.

 

If my friend was in the wrong, and gets thumped by one guy, then my friend deserved it. I would never jump in, just because he's my friend.

If some random fellow compatriot was in an altercation, I would never just piled in, feet first, with other friends, outnumbering the fight. But that is exactly what I have seen so many times here. The Thais (and Cambodians, Burmese and some other nationalities) will see a fight and just choose their side and pile it, with feet and or weapons.

 

Just like dogs, except dogs know when to stop.

To be fair to them, it must be hard to be a sub-80 IQ man with a tiny member, seeing all these moneyed tourists coming and paying for sex with your ex-girlfriends.
