Thailand's Digital Card Chaos: Say Goodbye to TM6, Hello to Confusion!

Those are Electronic Travel Authorizations (ETAs), which are what Thailand announced last year and then completely stopped talking about. What is being discussed in the OP is an electronic arrival card, akin to what is being used in Malaysia, Singapore, and Cambodia. They're not the same.

Indeed, it was simpler just to rename the ETA and apply it to everyone than just use it for visa exempt.

Every chance that ETA will  now be filed under "B".

Entirely ignoring any of this or general news until something actually starts and stays in place longer than a few weeks. Tired of these kids running their mouth with early 2000 software. Meanwhile cambodia uses ipads to get a tiny QR sticker visa on arrival hassle free.

I also really do not understand what the value with this, they already can screen passengers from passenger lists. You could then at least limit it for land border use only.

This has zero value to anybody.......Things have worked just fine without the TM6....And things could continue to work just fine without this undated version of the pointless TM6..

Thailand and computers doesn't match.. What happens if the system is down or overloaded?? and why not an easy website that can be found on google instead of the tda.immigration.go.th/... How will people know??Communicate clearly with easy access to find what tourists need in all languages.. But it will be in Thai and English and maybe Chinese and all the rest have to find out ... Thailand making easy things difficult

It mentions to download the Thailand pass mobile app...I cant find it?...anyone know about this?...and I take it this does not apply to Thai citizens?

why do they not just get the details from the airlines who already store it digitally
who you gave details to buy your ticket
who also verified your details before giving you your border pass
it seems the only use for technology these days is to make life more inconvenient for everyone

I am awaiting the announcement that airlines will be instructed to decline Check-in if you cannot produce the QR code for then to scan.

so fill in the form at your own convenience before setting out on your journey, what's the problem doing that? it's got to be done so, as my boss used to say; JFDI, just f**king do it.

Because it's different information.  It is simply the same as the old paper form.

Damn. I was waiting for the TM7 with shape-shifting capabilities and onboard weapons systems.

Too late, that's already here, if you can manage to get in the country...

I thought the TM6 had been scrapped?

is it back now?

It took at most two minutes to fill it in on the plane, in fact do a few ready for next time. No phone or PC needed, just a Biro.

The days of saying no to a mobile device are over.

Absolute bull<deleted>!!

I manage everyday without a smartphone here in Cambodia.. All my shopping - CASH IS KING. I also use my Bank Debit card for ATM and to pay my medical bills at my local private hospital.  I have never been required to use a QR Code. When travelling by air from Siem Reap to Chiang Mai, boarding passes are issued by Air Asia for the 'Fly Thru' service and Thai Immigration in DMK (special desk for Air Asia transfer passengers) want to see passport and for me to undergo the biometrics formality. No QR codes or TM6 involved.

Interestingly, my favourite restaurant in Siem Reap is now CASH ONLY. Evidently too many problems with smartphone transactions. It is still full everyday with worldwide customers visiting Angkor Wat.

Several new banks have been constructed in Siem Reap and new ATM booths are springing up again - like pre-covid days!

I just filled it within 10 minutes. Really easy.

How can you do that when it doesn't take effect till 1 May and the article says you can't complete it less than 3 days before your flight ?

I arrive on the 3. of May. Not possible to fill the date of arrival. Just get Invalid format.

Because you can only complete it 3 days ahead or arrival.
