Why are Trump supporters so unwilling to criticize even some of his policies?

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

I am a lifelong Democrat and during the 20 years that Clinton, Obama, and Biden were in office I regularly criticized some of their policies that I did not agree with. We are never going to agree with everything that a president does. Having said that I am wondering why Republicans are so unwilling to criticize anything that Trump does.

It seems like the even the most ignorant things that he does are not open to criticism from his supporters. I hear a few people here and there saying they're unhappy about this they're unhappy about that, but it appears to be very tiny numbers of people.

Where is the courage in that? How does independent thinking come into an equation where no criticism seems to be acceptable?

I understand his administration members lying over things like classified information to try to cover him, but I don't understand his supporters accepting the mistakes that he's making, and they appear to be quite numerous, to a reasonable mind.

Well he's mostly doing a good job  but I totally disagree with his middle east policy...totally not what he was saying about ending wars.

EU approval among its citizens hits record high as security fears grow, poll shows

BRUSSELS, March 25 (Reuters) - Support for the European Union among citizens is at a record high, with three quarters saying membership of the bloc is beneficial because of its role in protecting peace and strengthening security, a Eurobarometer poll showed on Tuesday.
The poll, conducted for the European Parliament in January and February, found that 74% EU citizens thought their country benefited from EU membership - the highest recorded since the question was first asked in 1983.After three years of war in Ukraine on Europe's eastern flank, the survey comes amid fears that Moscow may attack an EU member in the coming years and doubts about the future of U.S. protection for Europe via the NATO defence alliance.

I don't think those results actually comport with your view of the situation.

I remember when Trump did a 180 degree turn on H1B visas. Virtually all the Trumpists here swiveled in unison.

Trump supporters are not educated in logic and critical thinking. If Trump says it, therefore it is true.

For them, Trump holds out the hope American manufacturing will be restored to dominance. They don't realize the world has moved on to AI and robots.

It's a no-brainer tariffs will raise living costs. It's a no-brainer firing thousands of Federal employees will result in chaos, in social services and Medicare.

All Americans are in for a rough ride, irrespective of their politics. Trump doesn't care.

Unless they are rich, which does not apply to most MAGA adherents.

I love how Trump pushed the EU to take their defense seriously.

Anecdotal evidence can be defined as testimony that something is true, false, related, or unrelated based on isolated examples of someone's personal experience. It is distinctly different from scientific evidence, or proof based on findings from systematic observation, measurement, and experimentation.

Who posted this the other day?

What is asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.

That is a fair point. And not only that, it's given Europe 2 enemies instead of 1!

Ai and robots are still in their infancy  there is still time to reject them and return jobs manufacturing agriculture etc  back to real human beings.

Oh, now it's the long term. Right. Trump made a major point of that in his campaign How there would be years of sacrifice and hardship but in the long run it will pay off?

I don't ever see the US attacking Europe.  Do you?

Actually, those robots are quite grown up already.

The global market for Industrial Robotics was valued at US$87.1 Billion in 2024 and is projected to reach US$162.7 Billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 11.0% from 2024 to 2030. This

And if the US gives them up and the rest of the world doesn't?

Even with AI and robots, manufacturing creates value-added products.

Who could ever have foreseen the US threatening Canada? Until very recently, that would be a punchline.

I'm assuming there's some sort of typo in your comment.

I wish I could spot a type here but what is this supposed to mean?

Finished products have more value than unfinished products.

No typo.   Canada is the hat of the USA.
