visitors in my roof - how to remove them.

Not sure where to post this so please move if this is the wrong area.

We built our house around 31/2 years ago, we are out of the city and have an open field behind us  as well as a rubber tree farm next to us.

We are now getting noises in the ceiling/roof, they usually start up during the day and get more active at night, while we thought it was probably a few rats some of the foot falls are very heavy and we can get loud commotion at times as well so I doubt the heavier ones are rats.

I am unable to access the roof area due to back problems so cant get up there to see, we have had several of the large moth balls tossed about in the roof which are supposed to repell rats, have even heard them being pushed around so either thay dont work or its not rats.

Would appreciate suggestions as to what we can do to stop this from happening and get rid of what ever is up there.

First put a mesh over the exit of any down pipes.

Get those sticky glue plates and slide those into the roof with rat poison on them, they come for the food and can't get off.

Retrieve the plate and body days or a week later.replace and repeat.

Like Charlie mentioned, look for any opening animals can access from. A rat can get in with a hole the size of a quarter. I have the same problem and have rat poison out and they aren't eating it, so it might be birds, especially if there are holes they can get in to make a nest.

Birds, Bats, Rats, Snakes, Tokays, could be anything, really need to determine what it is first so you can apply the right corrective action.

This is a good example of why God invented action cameras and made them cheap.  Plus, they can be put on the end of a long stick and stuck into places where no man can fit.  And if you pony up a few extra baht for a good one, you can watch the action live over wifi.

Post back if you identify the marauders.

Someone getting their afternoon ZZzzzzzz in so they can go forth and kill unwanted critters at night.
Very effective.

Yes i agree, cats are the way to go, mother kills the rat and lets the kids have their fun before he becomes a meal .

thanks guys, I want  to get someone to actually get into the roof and have a look but trying to convince my wife is another matter, while she complains about the noise she doesnt want to do anything other than get the mothballs tossed around. Will update if we can find out what it is,  while I think there maybe rats some of the sounds  are way too heavy, actually wondered if we have a snake up there chasing/eating them as we do get banging every so often

There are several pest control companies on the internet. I'm sure there will be some rodent exterminators among them. Good luck.

Are there any fruit trees nearby? I lived in a house with roof rats. Had to keep putting traps in the roof space and poison everywhere. I never really won the battle.

After a while, the roof will become saturated with rat pee and you will get a very musty smell especialy on damp days.

The best poison to use is STORM, it comes in small oval tablets.

Buy it on Lazada
