Deputy National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Thana Chuwong ordered an intensified nationwide crackdown on illegal immigration and related offences in the lead-up to the 2025 Songkran holiday, as part of efforts to enhance public safety during the festival period.

Following the directive, Chonburi Immigration Police Chief Pol. Col. Napassapong Khositsuriyamanee, along with Deputy Chief Pol. Lt. Col. Kawinwat Arayasuriyawong, instructed Pol. Lt. Col. Thong Kotonan, head of investigations, to deploy undercover teams to gather intelligence and carry out raids in the Pattaya area.

Immigration officers launched targeted operations at hotels, construction sites, restaurants, and various residential locations. During these raids, officers encountered chaotic scenes, with undocumented migrants attempting to flee, some scaled fences or walls, while others tried to hide in tight spaces. In one incident, surprised foreigners were found mid-meal, confused about the sudden police presence.

Over a five-day period, 191 foreign nationals were apprehended. The detainees included 91 from Myanmar, 40 from Cambodia, 15 from China, and 45 from other countries. The majority were charged with entering the kingdom illegally, overstaying their permitted entry date or no work permits.

Immigration authorities have charged the offenders under the Immigration Act B.E. 2522. The detainees were transferred to Pattaya Police Station for legal proceedings and further processing.

Pol. Gen. Thana reiterated that the nationwide operation aims to deter crime and maintain security during the country’s busiest travel season, ensuring the safety of both Thai citizens and tourists.

'Pol. Gen. Thana reiterated that the nationwide operation aims to deter crime' and absolve the employers from paying the  foreigners' wages for the previous days/weeks work.

So you can get free labor if you hire an illegal, work him a bunch, then rat him out to immigration.

Sweet.

Its a great effort... Cannot have those illegals sneaking up to Khao Tao and murding tourists now can we !

It would seem that the person on the right in the OP photo can't decide if they are a member of the Immigration police or the CBI (Criminal Investigation Branch). Or are they combined?

Geez, 191 foreign criminals. The others are still hiding?

Employers should have to pay and be fined heavily for not registering their employees.
