I have not given enough examples of how America has fallen behind?

Fact: Deepseek AI has astounded Silicon Valley with its technology.

Fact: BYD is now outselling Teslas.

Fact: China is leading in nuclear fusion research.

  • China can buy Airbus. It's safer than Boeing anyway.   China makes BYD electric cars that are cheaper and better quality than Teslas. What makes you think they can't do the same with aircraf

  • China already makes the COMAC C919 which is Boeing's 737Max....  at 25-30%  cheaper. Ryanair will buy many as will other countries ....  US cannot compete with CHINA   !!!   does Trump

And the latter drops out of the sky for that price.

The wonders of DEI. Not sure why you are blaming me for Boeing refusing to hire competent skilled workers and then act thunderstruck when their speedbirds start falling from the skies. I could have told you that would happen.

The only way that America can compete with China is to lower US wages to 25% of what they are today. That way they can bring back the iPhone and other items that they make abroad today.

Trump is destroying the US economy one step at a time. It could be intentional. It could be diabolical. Nobody knows. He could simply be unhinged or following the dictates of a very sinister cabal.

One thing is certain. He is accomplishing very little, he will NOT bring manufacturing back to America, which is stupid over priced (I am here now and inflation is raging at 20% or higher right now), he is causing alot of pain, he is losing support, destroying businesses, and consumer confidence, he does not have a coherent plan, and he is a destructive nimwit.

Temu have stepped in and promised to replace it........

Can we please put this in perspective. These are  Boeing 737- Max models.

How many people worked at Boeing?well if trump kills that company that will be a bit of a kerkuffel ehh?oh I’m a thinking the big companies have about had their fill of one Donald John trump.

The return of an aircraft or even a few hundred  is not going to bankrupt Boeing. The company reports Boeing's a production backlog of 4,759  737 MAXs.  It is not as if Airbus will replace Boeing in China either. The writing has been on the wall for at least a decade that China wanted to replace foreign sourced aircraft with its own.  Aerospace is a very profitable sector and China  like any other country, wants to keep its money in house. Any country should try to do that. That's what the USA is trying to do too.

Not brand new anymore. How complete are these aircraft? Do they have fitted out cabins, Contrary to the photo, the 3 planes that have come back were built for Xiamen Airways. From what I can gather, Zhoushan completes the livery and interiors. I assume most of the cabin wiring is done in the US, and in China they are bolting in seats, laying carpet, hooking up entertainment systems, all in Chinese.

These were built with business and economy class cabins, so zero interest from Ryan Air unless a big discount, as they will likely need complete rework. Ryaqn Air, and other similar airlines don't do business class.

The aircraft  are delivered to China with bare interiors.  This actually can make it easier to  deliver to another customer (with maybe a small discount). They will easily be snapped up by the other carriers waiting for deliveries.

^ And if the plane is already customized for the Chinese , sell it to Taiwan.

Seems Boeing is going to be just fine. Stock is surging after earnings and they hope to get approvals for 42 737 a month which they do 38 a month now.  These threads are always fun.

Yes Mr Trump. Boeing is doing great Mr Trump. No quality control issues here Mr Trump. We’re the best plane manufacturer in the world Mr Trump. USA! USA! Anything else you’d like me to cover Mr Trump?

I said nothing like that. Just pointed out Boeing isn't in any danger of being hurt from this Mr. Biden.

Well I am putting my money where my mouth is. I picked up some BA today @ $173 a share. I am sure my fellow forum members will wish my the best of luck on this. After that report and what they said they could sell crap in a bag and they have the orders for a decade.

Different system. The UK didn't get rid of Truss, the 1922 Committee did. In the British system, the Prime Minister is the First Among Equals. Head of a cabinet with the power to hire and fire ministers. But also a MP like the reast of them. Traditionally, the Party Leader is chosen by the Parliamentary Party; in recent years, this has been expended to include the membership (eg. me), with I think unexpected consequences (I think the membership should shortlist the candidates, with a run off based on Westminster secret ballot). A PM could ignore a 22 vote, but then that would mean they wouldn't command the confidence of the Conservative parliamentary party, and in theory would depend on the opposition  for support. A PM can step down, but still be leader of the Conservative Party (which does happen).

Parliamentarians, who include members of the cabinet, are all accountable first and foremost to their constituents. The Whip can dilute that; promoting national or party interests over and above local issues. But there is still very much a local connection.

The 47th President has recently let slip that the benefits of his policy will be felt in 10 years, and people have only got to stick to the line. Pity he didn't say that while electioneering. This is like when Rees-Mogg said, after Brexit, that the true benefits would be felt in 50 years, and that would have been obviously anyone supporting it (he is a Brexit champion). If both politicians had been more honest and treating the electrate like adults, there might have been a different outcome.

Well done, investor of the year!!

British Airways?
British Aerospace?

Probably both decent calls, I'm glad you didn't stick your money in Boeing, phew! But as investor of the year you would know better - you are so clever and wise. I only wish I had your investor knowledge and skill and could boast about it on an anonymous forum.

At least i do it in real time. Unlike many others that try and claim success in hindsight. If there is an investor section of this forum i would gladly make a competition with you and see who does better using only real time trading. I sort of do this everyday. I only mention when i do something so some idiot doesn't comae later and say I only said it after the fact. That's how it works on the internet. If you didn't say it it never happened.

So where are the planes supposed to go once completed?

They were not bought by China they were just fitted with interior and then painted

On Thursday, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China told reporters they were “not familiar” with the reports of a stop to Boeing orders.

So China doesn't know about it, just left with 'reports' from Reuters... so must be true

So nothing to do with Trump, or the tariffs!

You sure about that?

Boeing says China not accepting planes over US tariffs

Boeing's CEO confirmed Wednesday that China had stopped accepting new aircraft due to the US-China trade war, as the company's shares surged following a smaller than expected loss.

In a televised interview with CNBC, Boeing Chief Executive Kelly Ortberg said Chinese customers had "stopped taking delivery of aircraft due to the tariff environment," adding that if the halt continued, the aviation giant would soon market the jets to other carriers.

President Donald Trump's trade conflicts with China and other countries loom as a question mark for Boeing, a major US exporter, despite Wednesday's solid results.

British Aerospace bought Marconi Electronic Systems in 1999 and merged with it to form BAE Systems.
