The 2nd most stupid thing that the Thai Government did was to legalised weed shops. They should have left things as as they were  and anyone who wanted it to buy it could but to put a weed shop on every street corner is just stupidity. The owner of the fine establishment is civilly liable.  He should sue them for what their agents did and criminally prosecute the thugs who assaulted them.

I just do not feel comfortable to be in the vulnerable position of having no cash on me, so don't. Yes, now I have to carry 2 things religiously, a wallet and a phone! That said, I have gone out drinking leaving those items in the safe... just a reasonable amount of cash in a secure pocket... and never get into the situation the guy in the OP did!

As an elderly person, I'm very fixed in my ways, the bars and restaurants I frequent all know what I'll order, and if I were to be unable to pay (or more likely forget to pay) they'd just collect it next time I went there.

Although normally the problem is the opposite, and my pal and I both try to pay, but they always remind us, "you've already paid".

Shame on you Hungarian tourist. Shame on those who assaulted him.

It's always advisable to carry 2000 baht cash as,very  rarely,phones can play up or not receive the internet.His excuse of 'I always intended to pay'is very weak and unexcebtable.
