I had a German Neighbour a few years ago,  best Neighbour u could ask for, he bought a House in his Thai wife's name  bought her a Car, and her Daughter a Car, what he didnt know was the wife  was  a Gambler,  playing Poker in undercover places, she  gambled, and lost  the house  on a poker table, the Car too. she told him she was going back to her Village for a weeks holiday, a few days after ...... A Thai man arrived at his house demanding that he leave as the House was now his, (poker winnings)    she had already trasfered the house into his name,  the German man now lives in a Room, iI see him regularly, he looks like a down and out, unshaven,  messed up clothes, the whole experience appears to have damaged him mentally....She's never to be seen again...

About half a dozen or so foreigners around me have lost several million baht due to wifes secret gambling. loads of them get into it...

I get the impression the poor guy maybe has dementia issues. Seems sad... not everyone has credit cards or ATM cards... a domineering wife could be behind this too.

Lots of men do- So what. It's the same in the UK & USA & Europe. We meet our wives in a pub. But here the cultural norms are slightly different.

So there is a explanation, the is a penny less, deadbeat.

Maybe this important information should be included in the article

I'm alright Jack.

having reportedly been evicted fro m h0is home by his Thai wife without explanation..

Not really rare cases in Thailand.

I have known several other expats who met the similar fate.

One man was said to be  found as the rotting body in the straw shack near the home he bought for his Thai wife.

Another is the American man in his 70s who said that he was locked out of his wife's home after giving all of his money($200000).

He had lived in Chiang Mai apartment a few years after that.

But eventually had to go home.

Some women all over the world, not just in Thailand, when they take over all of their husbands’ money and put the house in their name, they get rid of the man who raised her status and gave her something that he owns.

If you get booted out with just your clothes on your back you may not have your wallet with you.

Or wife has cleared the account?

Think about it.

When a Thai woman, married to a foreigner,  buys a property the foreigner has to sign documents at the land office that it isn't his money.

You're talking a lot of drivel, as usual

I think it may be you that is talking dribble! I built a house in Thailand (still own it and have my little yellow property book) and as my late Father in law reminded to my wife! "He built the house, he paid for the house so its his house, not yours"! I never had to sign anything and there was a paper trail for every screw, nail and tile etc I purchased. When you build a house, the house is yours the problem is the land it sits on. There is nothing stopping you from knocking it down. The amount of idiots I've come across who put every last thing in their new wife's name. Cars, motorbikes etc. Oh it was just easier!!!  Grown ass men can be so stupid sometimes.

Just for started, a yellow bok isn't a PROPERTY book, it is just a confirmation of your address. So clearly you have no diea what you're talking about, and not worth a response to the rest of your ignorant post

As with many other cases throughout Thailand, sadly this elderly gentleman was hooked on, and married, a much younger Thai girl who eventually stitched and ditched him. Need I say more.

For reference:-

The case has reignited long-standing public debate over foreign-Thai relationships, especially those involving significant age and cultural gaps. Social media users and local residents expressed mixed opinions — some sympathizing with the man, others criticizing the perceived pattern of poor judgment among certain foreign men who enter into relationships with much younger Thai women.

What's more likely is that he's paid for everything and she's the problem, as most of us living here has seen over the years. Greed has many women becoming greedier, not appreciating the better life they are given and only the need for more gold , cash and cars to brag to her "friends". Normal women appreciate when a man takes care of them, but those with mental issues are wired to believe they always deserve more. Of course, he could be part of the problem, maybe a drunk or abuser, but obviously being a foreigner living here, he has enough money to stay.

There simply isn't enough Info to Crucify Anyone.  That doesn't stop several people here from doing so.

If you don't see the cash-flows and money movements of the last 3 to 5 Years, you cannot figure anything out.

It says wife (as in married).  At some point in the past, he had something to offer.  / It Appears, "Not Any More".

I would always keep your own bank account, with a sizeable amount in it, that only you can access. You have options then if things go awry.

Yes, impossible to judge without the evidence that it's either sides problem, as none of us are there. We can think that him, being a foreigner , has enough money to stay here, but we don't know. It could be her house alone, or both. Either, or both, could be abusive or drunks, or neither. Assumptions don't work.

That's true, as we don't know anything of what happened here besides what the story says. She might have had help kicking him out of the house unprepared, and if he's a slight, older man, as he appears to be,  and there are men, family or friends of the wife,  younger or a few of them, he might not have wanted a confrontation and just left quickly without a chance to grab his things. Not being there, we can't assume what went down.

In Karon years ago i meet a Swedish guy who lived on the streets there Have lost all his money and was on a long overstay. His wife in Sweden tried to help him but didn't have the money. This guy begging in the streets and was drunk everyday.I helped him with 500 baht and he bought lao kao right away.A few days after another swede came down looking for him.He was his old time friend. His friend gave him a room at a hotel.Bougth him clothes and food and i could see the hope in his eyes that this could end good for him.His friend contacted the immigration for a meeting outside the hotel. After that meeting things about his overstay was fixed.A week after they flew back to Sweden. There is some really good persons who help if they can.

Before you assume, read . This property wasn't bought. It was already in the family's name. I had the house built, and the house was put in her name, as it always is. Nothing to do with any money. I paid everything to build this house, so I can stay. It's still their land in their possession, although the government owns it

That sounds like a good move, thanks for the lesson.

So from now on I will build houses for people if I am allowed to stay there as long as the owner allows me to stay.

When I call a taxi I will also pay for the cost of the whole car as after all I was allowed to sit in it during the journey.

When I go shopping at a 7/11 I will pay for the building too as I was allowed to shop there, it all makes good business and common sense.

We should all do that.

I have never been in the situation before where I can be kicked out of a property I bought, I wonder what it is like?

I always wonder how logic goes out of the window as soon as farangs put one foot into the country, is there a secret brain extractor floating in the air I can not see, these farangs would not buy things in their own country which they are not allowed to own so why do they do it here I always wonder.

Unless you know the real reasons and story, button up. There could be many reasons. I know personally a man in Jomtien with a similar story. His daughter had to come over from France to sort it out. He was not broke and had a pension but the wife had burnt/ taken everything that she could. His friends helped with a room and clothes until she arrived. He was lucky.

When you build a house here, and you're married, its both of yours house. She isn't allowing me to stay. My building it, and paying 100% for it, has me stay. You can own a house, not the land. Just the way it is here, as you should know, if you live here.

I agree with that. And even if the marriage is divorced it is 50% yours according to the law.

You are talking semantics, if she owns the land which the house you paid for is sitting on she can kick you off her land any time she wishes.

You could of course move the house down the road and live in it there if she allows you back onto the land to move it. 😃

I wish him all the best but this woman with " depressions " and psych Problems she think she can do all what she want and she not stopped for nothing to make more money for the third kondo or a big house...

I forgive Lisa this stupid country village woman with not more knowledge to steel from others. Blessing for the itali baby.

How do you know he has a credit card, phone, or even a bank account? How do you know the wife didn't keep the aforementioned or drain his account before kicking him out? Common sense suggests that if he had them he would have used them. Duh. Instructions: Make sure you have your facts straight before making judgmental comments.

Jono, who doesn't have a credit card, phone, bank account? These are basic items for any foreigner.

Why are you talking about common sense? This whole story and the comments make no SENSE.

It's obvious you are similar to the German guy, you have NO COMMON SENSE.

Duh. Instructions: Make sure you don't bother me again until you regain your common sense, Understood?
