I wonder how she would feel if a Thai went to Israel and didn't adhere to Israeli customs/social behavior.

She needs to remember she's a guest in Thailand, even after living here full time for 30+ years I still think that way.

So, who should decide whether shoes should be worn on a premises ?

Who decides where the custom of taking shoes off should be ?

The shop owner was OK with shoes being worn in the restaurant

You go to a temple shoes outside,a cafe ask u to take your shoes off no problem.get them on the way out.Tourist from this country often think they are special and don,t listen to what others say.Look at their region and what they do and don,t care what others say or think.Everyone can see what they are doing everyday to others

It seems that none of us were actually there, so no one knows what actually happened. So all this talk about sore feet, shoes or no shoes etc. is just hearsay.

I have my doubts about whether this argument was about shoes because if you look at the table there are half full glasses of drinks along with a plate of something that has already been eaten. In addition the ashtray looks quite full. It is possible that the table has not been cleared but I was not there so of course I don't know.

From what I can see it looks as though she got in an argument about something else (presumably with a Thai person - "your country").

Is the shop owner on record as saying that (shoes OK) because I can't find anything on Thai social media mentioning quotes along those lines.

Yes, when my feet hurt I always find that leaving my shoes on helps. 🙄

Silly comment really.

It would really depend on what the foot problem is, how comfortable the shoes are, and the type of flooring.

So you're saying this random lady is in charge of Israeli government policy? Interesting.

Probably won't be available.

It seems to me that this incident has already been blown up way out of proportion to what it actually was and of course without the video it would be nothing at all.

People demanding a lady who broke no laws be deported. People idiotically seeing this as a metaphor for the Israeli - Palestinian conflict. Truly nutso!

Totally agree. If the floor is spiky then you should keep your shoes on if your feet hurt, definitely. Spiky floors are bad.

On the off-chance the floor was smooth I am not so sure.

You mean like Nick who was the first person to make that connection: only attacked and video'd because she was Israeli, the person videoing must be an "enemy".

You mean those comparisons? I agree, nutso indeed!

Not what I meant but I see you get pleasure from blatant distortion.

What about the fact the the people sharing the video are Palestinian or Palestinian supporters do you not understand? This is clearly racially motivated.

Yeah!!! I heard the person holding the camera is actually Mahmoud Abbas. Can you confirm with your sources?

It's probably for the best Miss Shouty didn't try to enter these places.

Hello. Did people actually read everything before posting comments?

She got the permission from the restaurant owner to keep her shoes on for whatever reason AND the person filming was not a Thai national.

Probably some other nationality that doesn't like Israelis or simply just another Karen type.

She also doesn't refer to Thailand when she said "my money builds your country".

Geoff, you don't seem to be aware that the Cafe owner didn't require them to remove their shoes  , said it was OK to wear shoes inside

When I was younger,  about 40 years ago many guest houses in India, Nepal & elsewhere had sign saying: NO ISRAELIS ALLOWED. Such was their reputation for for obnoxious & anti social behaviour. The latter two characteristic underpinned with racism. It seems things have not changed much.

Quote me where the cafe owner said this?

You are taking her explanation as gospel, and quite frankly she doesn't come across as a saintly in anything she may say.

What about her suggests that she is lying ?

What bought you to that conclusion ?

"I was trying to emphasise how much Israelis contribute to the Thai economy, not to belittle the culture." She added that she had received verbal and physical aggression from others at the café and stressed that her footwear was kept on only because of foot pain.

She also claimed that the person who filmed the encounter was another customer, not a staff member, and maintained that she had initially been given permission to keep her shoes on by the café personnel.

Okay, so she states that she was initially given permission, so with whom is she arguing? She is a liar. Foot pain.....just lies.

A despicable person.

Read the comments on Instagram if you want to know what people really think about it.  Universally reviled.

Her behaviour gives you indiciations of her character.

But back to the point - you've made numerous points over and over again that the cafe owner exempted her from wearing shoes. But you haven't shown where this is ? If she did that say that and you have the quote can you show?

So far it just seems like you are taking what the young lady said as truth.

Targeted for being Jewish/Israeli .

Most probably instigated and filmed by an enemy .

Thais are usually non plussed about shoes being worn or removed

She also states that the restaurant owner was OK with shoes being worn .

Its quite likely that she was responding to some unsavory abuse unrelated to the shoe issue .

An example of what Israelis have to deal with and  a reason why they aren't always friendly to non Israelis

Rubbish. Arrogant scumbag farang.
