No interest in Eurovision here? Weird.

  • A festival for queers and dxyz*+&, supporting Palestine. It's like pigs supporting butchers, because all this people would not survive long in that country. Not because of the Israely Army, becaus

Well on to the Grand Finale.

Some surprises from the second semi. Israel got through. Watching again it was a better song than my first impression. Despite the politics and the protests I think Israel is treated reasonably fairly by the fans even to the point of winning sometimes but not this year with that song.

I'm still dissapointed that 2015 Golden Boy didn't win though.

Shocked that Milkshake Man Australia didn't get through.

It seems Austria is the favorite to win now!

Definitely great performance.

So big drama in store for the Grand Finale!

Doesn't surprise me, one of the best songs in the competition.

Austria's song is not bad, a bit high on drama for me, but not bad.

Croatia is my favourite.

OK.

It's over.

If you.haven't watched the finale or don't know the results yet STOP reading.

Anyway.

Wow.

A lot of surprises.

Sweden heavily favored to win only came in 4th.

The UK got zero televotes again.

Israel got the most televotes and was in a position to win until the very end. In other words they did shockingly well. It would've been very bad for the future of Eurovision if they had won. This is not the time for the contest to be hosted in Israel as multiple nations would boycott. So ESC dodged a bullet.

The winner?

JJ from Austria.

Very well deserved.

JJ is half Filipino so there's your Asean Eurovision connection.

I love JJ.

You must watch his emotional victory lap.

I hope he becomes a massive international star now.

Doesn’t usually happen with Eurovision winners but I can imagine it for him.

Of course I will always love the Swedish sauna song.

I think this was an exceptionally good year for the contest.

Eurovision lacks diversity.   Too white.

There were several singers of colour competing.

I recently learned that Canada could join Eurovision if their public broadcaster made the request. They haven't because of the high cost of running a national contest. Too bad. If Australia is in it, Canada should be too. Also Canada in Eurovision would be a great way for Canada to differentiate itself from the now hostile neighbor to the south. I'd say that would be worth the money.
