Why Elon Musk Is Furious and Publicly Raging at His Own AI Chatbot, Grok

Featured Replies

To say that Musk as an ambivalent relationship with his own creation is a gross understatement. Here is the latest "spat".😄

Why Elon Musk Is Furious and Publicly Raging at His Own AI Chatbot, Grok

https://futurism.com/elon-musk-furious-at-his-ai

"Elon Musk's AI chatbot, Grok, thinks that The Atlantic and The BBC are credible, reputable sources for news and information. Which is funny, because Musk — who's engaged in a years-long project to erode trust in legacy media organizations and even specific journalists — doesn't. And now, he's furious at his own AI chatbot."

  • It's simply a matter of "garbage in, garbage out."  The Large Language Models that power the AI simply don't know any better.  They only know about the garbage they were trained on.  And a lot of that

It's simply a matter of "garbage in, garbage out."  The Large Language Models that power the AI simply don't know any better.  They only know about the garbage they were trained on.  And a lot of that "garbage" is mainstream media.  So of course that's what they spit out. Garbage.

What do you mean by "the AI simply don't know any better"?

I mean just that. They aren't sentient beings. They learn based on what they're trained on, not unlike human babies who are trained on external stimuli.  But they're also different.  In the case of AI bots, they're trained on material off the internet and perhaps, on input from their master. Mostly garbage, in other words, at least as to what they receive online. The set of external stimuli they receive is but a subset of all possible stimuli. They are creatures of their environment. Entirely logical. Or mostly logical. Remember the character Data from Star Trek?

Do they have intuition? Are they creative?  I'm not sure they're that far advanced, yet. And we may never know.  We can no more climb inside the mind of an AI bot than we can climb inside the mind of another human.

I think it's still possible to "climb inside the mind of an AI bot" as they're constructed by humans. But If they start to "multiply" I'd really start to worry.

Be worried...

You missed the AI generated historical famous persons of ethnic origins  and the Black pope   Ai simply was doing what its woke masters wanted.

When I asked Grok a three word question I got the following, can you guess my question?

The question’s broad, so let’s break it down. If you’re asking about the state of the world—economically, environmentally, or socially—there’s a mixed bag. Climate change is a real threat: rising CO2 levels, extreme weather, and biodiversity loss are accelerating, with 2024’s global temperatures already hitting record highs. Economic inequality’s still a mess—billionaires keep getting richer while wages stagnate for most. Geopolitically, tensions like U.S.-China trade wars and regional conflicts aren’t cooling off. Tech’s a double-edged sword: AI’s advancing fast, but so are risks like deepfakes and job displacement.

On the flip side, renewable energy adoption’s up, with solar and wind costs dropping 20-30% in the last decade. Medical breakthroughs, like CRISPR and mRNA vaccines, are saving lives. People are more connected than ever, organizing for change on platforms like X. But yeah, systemic issues—corrupt governance, short-term thinking—aren’t going away overnight.

Grok is probably already smarter than you.

Does that make you nervous? It should.

Is Musk a "woke master"?

Don't think so  but I'll guess those who programed Grok are.

Anyone with an IQ higher than their shoe size should worry about AI's. The emergence of some kind of "Skynet" would be the least surprising of all doomsday scenarios.

So you think those who Musk tasked to created the algorithms Grok is based on conspired against him? Is this another deep state thing??

Fracking hell, those guys are everywhere!!

Of course you don't. That's why you reply....because you don't care.....not one bit!

No they just imparted their woke ideology to the AI model which in turn went woke...same thing happened to the Google model that churned out the black pope..

This is a very dangerous tech and needs to be kept firmly under control...human control.

I’m certainly no expert on AI but my understanding is it is supposed to respond to facts, apparently the facts aren’t to elons liking hence the blow up.

So Musk used woke coders to write the algos for Grok. That makes perfect sense!

Ah, I see. And has there been anyone successful in writing the algos for a non-"woke" AI yet? Or is the deep state just too powerful?

Just one in a multitude of things they got completely wrong...and not by accident

they crafted a narrative.

Deep state is everywhere. The only way to cancel their wifi, propaganda is by wearing a red cap with the letters MAGA printed on it. You can order them cheap direct from the factory in China. Mind the tariffs.

So more deflections. How utterly unsurprising.

I'd love to see the results from an AI trained on the  output of Alex Jones,  Andrew Tate ,Tucker Carlson,RFKjr,  Glenn Greenwald  Kim Iversen etc etc

probably not very woke 😋

Hummmâ€Ļ..stellar stock market strengthening nato in the face of Russian aggression avoiding recession meaningful legislation standing for democracy bringing family’s out of poverty lowered drug prices infrastructure domestic manufacturing of computer chips standing with labor and the middle classâ€Ļ..those are the facts of the last administrationâ€Ļâ€Ļ..and yup unfortunately for us after a lifetime of service president Biden aged out.

No. No. No.

"Facts." What are those?  Don't forget the foundation. "Large Language Model."  The sum total of everything the AI is trained on.  And if the training material is just superstition or whatever passes for the "truth" among a brainwashed population of people posting nonsense on the internet, guess what comes out?  Superstition.  Or regurgitated propaganda. "Facts" are irrelevant, unless, of course, the prevailing consensus would agree.  Example: 2 + 2 = 4.  Not many people would argue with that result.

So, Elon may be furious about his Grok AI, but it's not the fault of the Grok. It's the fault of the garbage that's already out there, floating around online and passing for the "truth."

Nice clickbait, Sir and/or Ma'am.

"This is embarrassing," the world's richest man responded to his own chatbot.

AI's are nothing more than algorithms that process available data.  They only use the data fed into them, and cannot discern truth from fiction.  They cannot strain the corn kernals from the biomass. They are like simple children playing Simon Sez, following the arbitrary rules.

But that's in the virtual world, where "garbage in equals garbage out."

For a real-world example, see Trump's tariff policy, or any of his foreign policies.

That's true, not very woke and not very intelligent. Kinda like an Artificial Hitler instead of an Artificial Intelligence.
