Probably irrelevant, as had a SS card.   Brother enlisted in the AF, to avoid the draft to the Army.  Wasn't stationed in Nam, did a UK tour.  I was a mere 18 months younger than him, and war still going when I was 18.  Still drafting people when I was 20 yrs old, then draft ended June 1973.

It did. For years Uncle Joe pleaded for the US and the UK to open a second front to assist Russia's fight with Germany. But only when they were absolutely sure that Germany was close to defeat in 1944 did the Americans and British help the Russians out and open a second front.

They should hold an easter egg parade, because like easter eggs, the Americans and British were hiding from the German homeland for most of the war.

Without the USSR, German & Japanese occupation would have lasted so much longer.  Well at least German.

Quite right. Hitler of course made the decision based on fantastically false force estimates by Fremde Heere Ost, the German intelligence service. Hitler said on record after the fighting was in full flow, if he had known the true extent of Russian forces he never would have started the war with Russia.

 

So it was the German intelligence service that caused the disaster, by providing totally false figures. The Germans were always terrible at secret service work.

Argue away. All I said is the US's entry changed the tide of war and it's inarguable. The military industrial complex of the US played a huge role in changing the course of WWII. Of course Russia's role was huge as was Hitler's mistakes and the list goes on but the topic is the US.

And the US would have been toast during the Revolutionary War, had the French not assisted by blockading the harbor at Yorktown, preventing the British Navy from landing and reinforcing their troops, which was a major turning point for the Americans. This blockade was the most important factor in the Brits losing the war.

The fact is Trump sought a medical diagnosis to avoid any possibility of being drafted. The fact he was far down the queue is irrelevant. He actively sought to avoid being sent to Vietnam.

Fine, I would have gone to Canada if I was American, but when he criticised McCain for being taken prisoner the man was way out of line. 

He has no right to refer to aspects of military bravery, etc having deliberately avoided conscription.
