I'd disagree. My female colleagues went to Pattaya, and were constantly being harassed by Indian tourists thinking they were prostitutes.

Anyone who goes to Pattaya, especially around areas like walking street, can expect to be harassed.

Besides that, the article was referring to Thai people, culture and infrastructure. That so many Indian tourists are ignorant ill mannered POS's is a reflection on them, not Thailand and Thai people.

As safety concerns lessen, more women are encouraged to set out alone

Thailand is safer than a lot of other countries, but I wouldn't encourage women to travel alone at night or in taxis.

Just don't drink anything that comes in a bucket and you'll generally be fine.

BTW, has anyone else noticed the lack of pesticide related hotel death stories?  It's been quite a while.  Which is a good thing.

Anyone else getting browned-off with these virtually useless AI generated news stories, so my AI response to this particular story follows:

What curious fate I wonder has befallen Thailand, the once almighty nation that stood proud is now relegated to 8th position behind 7 lesser nations, oh! what shame and disaster?

And, is it just my good-self or are others getting seriously and increasingly exasperated - no positively suffocated by these hollow, hyper-polished AI crafted news narratives that drip with artificial grandeur that endeavour to say much about so little.

Your hyperbolic response to a good news story would suggest "your good self" may be slightly misleading. This wonderful result for Thailand can only be lauded for its anticipated  effect on tourism numbers. We wait with interest.

My wife never goes alone in taxis from street pick up.

Grab is safer with a safety system ensuring their customers are safe. A long stop, you get questioned if everything is okay

What good news story? You mean this rubbish they got with false claims to make women feel secure alone in Thailand? Haha.. Tell that to the teen and the woman in pattaya that are currently living in fear from a serial rapist.

Thailand has clinched the eighth spot among the world’s top 10 safest places for solo female travellers in 2025, as per a report published by the New York Post.

That depends very much on your location and habits.

Checks map. Yeah it's a part of Thailand.

Well yeah dude, its a **** town in a cool country. You dont go there for temples and ruins and culture, you go to wallow in the fleshpots, while the Thais view it as a place to separate folks from their money.

Would you let your daughter walk around the Frankfurt RLD?
