Police Clamp Down on Prostitution to Protect Pattaya’s Image

The stories we read seem to suggest that only Thai bar girls take their partners to to the cleaners. I can assure you that this practice is world wide but that doesn't make headlines because everyone is aware of this,

100%. I married a Thai and have been so happy since...  My first wife (westerner) took all I had after 10 years of busting my arse to provide the never ending list of things required to make her happy.  My thai wife looks after me, appreciates everything we have and does not endlessly yearn for things we do not have.  Best choice I ever made.

What they don't seem to understand is that you cannot protect Pattaya's image, you cannot worry about hurting the image of a place that already has a horrific reputation.

How big a fine will they get, probably no more than they can earn in one night so no real deterrent . It will be a case of  “ I’ll be back”

Absolutely. It's similar to a fine for not wearing a helmet on a motorbike.

Pattaya is what it is, and being called a family resort city, is a complete laugh.

I enjoy Jomtien Beach on all my visits to that area. Lots of good restaurants and 3 night markets to

shop at as well as the other shopping centers. Terminal 21 is great as well.

Thailand the wild wild East.

These girls are the reason most of us are here in the first place.

Yes and being a resident of Thailand for decades, I can assure you that paying for sex with prostitutes is much cheaper than marrying a Thai woman . . . 🙄

Sorry if I offended you because you're sat in your small room all day by yourself.

It's not that small.

No problem with them arresting the agressive and troublesome ones - the others should be left alone. Most of the prostitution is low-key and unobtrusive.

There is no prostitution in Pattaya. Period.

This article doesn't say.  Non-Thais would most likely be deported, so a more serious issue for them.

There was a post that some Uzbeks and Ugandans were taken in just before this incident.

Ok you keep your blinders on and believe whatever you want.

Other than the ones forced into it they always have an option. Stop making excuses. They chose the option which is easier and pays more. Path of least resistance. Thai culture.

I'd say most of the prostitutes are working in the sex industry for survival.

In the west the government would provide social security and welfare payments (thousands of dollars after the birth) for these young mothers, government would garnish the fathers wages, the woman may be on maternity leave, she has income but sadly in Thailand these very POOR young woman (girls) have no money to support herself and her baby.

Most times the father has abandoned her, these girls have no one to turn to for support, sadly they make wrong decisions in life.

Again, these girls/young mothers, Thailand has failed these young people, at times they have no option but to work in the sex industry.

Shame on Thailand for not providing for these young mothers.

I reckon that the young girls in the poor villages should keep their legs shut until they have a job and security and the means to look after them before they have kids.

Easily said than done.

Most times it's the boyfriends pressuring these young girls, forcing them into sex.

Most girls aren't looking for sex.

Your comment is strange, it comes across as you see young Girls lying on their backs, legs wide open wanting sex.

Proper role models and education are lacking, so it's off to TikTok and Pattaya for the dream.   Baptism by fire, everyone gets burned.

So most of these girls are raped?  I never knew that thanks for the information.

Youre the one who said most girls are forced into sex.

Think that through again then come back when you realize how dumb that sounds.

Wow, you've topped the list for the weirdest today.

If they are pressured by their boyfriends for sex, what would you call it?

You said most girls. Give your head a shake.

"Police Clamp Down on Prostitution to Protect Pattaya’s Image".

On the contrary, with these methods, Pattaya will lose its image and there will probably be hardly any visitors, the lights will go out in Pattaya!

Quite. Not surprisingly you got almost as much thumbs down as support. There are many on here that have nothing but contempt for the Thais, makes you wonder why they are here, prostitution?

Years ago when I used to stay in Pattaya i came across many girls that had come to Pattaya to escape sexual abuse by relatives, little wonder making a living from it was more preferable.

It shouldn't be forgotten the problem is not unique to Thailand, the more advanced economies have managed it better. Amsterdam's red light area is world famous.

Image? what image? One of sex, sleaze, slum, corruption, dangerous roads, and very little law enforcement
