no, just kidding.

tipping is out of control back home. pretty soon, you need to pay 50 per cent tips on everything.

It really is. Im not the type of person to just not tip even though they provided no service, i just stop going out

Do you think it´s only in Thailand people give tip?

People don't tip in Thailand.  Only foreigners who think they have to because they have to back home tip in Thailand.

I'm sick of tipping. Take it back to the England and leave it there. The service doesn't warrant it.

It isn't really a thing in Thailand.  Plus it's much more of a thing in America.  In England it's generally seen as a flat 10% regardless of service.

And you will be back again ! That is one of my motives for giving a decent TIP; They will remember me next time & the reverse is also true. So I regard a tip as an investment in future service.

With the way many Thais think about foreigners, they likely just think you are rich and they deserve your money anyway.

The last of the big tippers

You don't think 20% is enough?

Seems like a "You're a privileged White man and you should give large amounts of money to Thais at every opportunity because you don't deserve it and they do" virtue signalling type.

So, it would ok for you, if all bars and restaurants raise their prices 20%?

I keep saying that our local needs to raise their prices anyway. I doubt I would notice the increase.

Tipping in Thailand is rather sane.

Example -- I regularly tip Grab food delivery drivers 30 baht (not paying attention to percentages) and almost always the drivers express sincere gratitude and sometimes even surprise. That's about one flippin' dollar!

If you don't tip at all, no big deal, as it's not really expected or required.

Compare to the U.S. where things have really gotten way out of hand.

Now we have a new angle.

No tax on tips.

But the majority of tip earning Americans don't make enough to owe any or much tax already!

People are talking about tipping them less now because of the tax break. Which actually makes sense if it's a server at an expensive restaurant. But not for the majority.

If you are a regular, tipping can get you better service. At the Amazon I frequent, when I walk in, even if there is a big line, they start my usual and bring it out to the patio for me. It may help that I also bring them cookies when I bake☺️. As for the Thais's thinking they deserve it. I have had at least three people tell me not to tip them because they owned the shop I was in and were not employees.

I almost always tip 10b per beer. Sometimes a bit more. Sometimes nothing if serving wenches in stumble inn piss me off for some reason (service better last few visits) 😂. Service next door 👍👍. Same down cowboy

I'll leave b20 and coins in a proper restaurant wo service charge.

I always tip food delivery drivers absolute minimum b10 if food arrives timely.

Oh what a big tipper you are ,a lousy 10b , now I know why most of your posts are pro-israeli ...

Just don't expect a "Shalom ' from me Moshe

Owners should pay more so staff aren't dependant on tips, it's the owners responsibility not customers

We all know that. But it won't happen. If it did the food price would just increase

Paranoid?.......or what ?

I could see the attempt at humour.

Well, saying that Jews are tight with money is indeed being Anti Semitic.

That isn't debatable

That is 1970's humour though, which isn't really acceptable these days

How much do you tip per drink and how may do you have on average?

Agree. I mostly just tip for good service, meaning not always; if so, usually between 7% and 15% for my barber and helpful taxi drivers. (Most Thais don't tip at all, I've been told.)

Find better quality establishments.

I almost always tip in restaurants. Sometimes it is just the small change,  and at other times, there is no need because a service fee or gratuity is already included. I tip the drivers who carry my bags.   I believe that  workers are entitled to a living wage and I reward good service. The staff at restaurants where I tip, take good care of me and I am appreciative.

My money and my right to express gratitude. Working people can not survive on my good sentiments.

The term "anti-Semitic" has been so overused it has lost its power, at least  with us older fellas who are wise to your tricks. You guys need a new schtick.

You older guys used to routinely get away with racism  and Anti semtitism and homophobia 40 odd years go .

But that kind of abuse gets called out now .

Stating that Jews are stingy is indeed anti sematic

Anti means "against" or "opposed to". We're not against or opposed to you, we just don't like you because you're unlikeable.
