So he's bad for applying the tariffs then he's bad for not applying the tariffs?  It sounds like people are just looking for ways to pretend that Trump is bad.

The gyrations in the share and bond markets are directly related to the flip-flops on tariffs. That affects the savings of Americans, and the interest the US has to pay on its debt.

Supply chains don't know whether to bring in goods to beat the tariffs, or hold off and put operations on care and maintenance.

Capricious actions of an semi-senile person with no knowledge of economics and science is no way to run a country. He doesn't even have the competent advisers Biden did. The White House should be renamed Toady Temple.

Are you trying to pretend Trump is good? On current actions and results, he is only good for himself and the very wealthy.

I have no idea. What about Cambodia. I just got back from BKK

Trump is destroying the US economy one step at a time. It could be intentional. It could be diabolical. Nobody knows. He could simply be unhinged or following the dictates of a very sinister cabal.

One thing is certain. He is accomplishing very little, he will NOT bring manufacturing back to America, which is stupid over priced (I am here now and inflation is raging at 20% or higher right now), he is causing alot of pain, he is losing support, destroying businesses, and consumer confidence, he does not have a coherent plan, and he is a destructive nimwit.

In my opinion, and that of many experts, Globalization made the world great, the manufacturing ecosystems within globalization and low tariffs allowed the US economy to thrive for decades, and he's never going to bring back manufacturing to the US. End of story, just a slogan. The fact that so many people are buying into his nonsense and seem oblivious to the destruction, is what is truly sad.

I don’t think he has a coherent value structure as most of us understand it. I think we’re seeing a president who’s operating without anything any of us would recognize as a conscience. Truly.

It is about showing what he can get away with. It’s about showing his enemies that what they support, he can tear down. It is all about displays of brute strength. He gets off on that, and in that sense, it seems not so much an autocracy but a flexocracy. Let me show you how I can flex my bicep as I use it to power my fist coming into your face.

It’s not about any coherent values. It’s not about any North Star. It’s about showing that you can turn the boat 180 degrees around and that you can do whatever you want and you can bring the people who opposed you to their knees.

Such incredibly bogus and fake news. I just got back from the US, I have a business there, and in the last 30 years I've never seen consumer confidence so low, so shattered, and people so afraid and lacking the will to really spend money.

Indeed and don't forget the US now has the lowest inflation in 4 years, at .2.3%

Totally bogus nonsense. I just got back from the US and everyone I talked to is complaining about how inflation just rages on. Nearly every one of my staples that I purchase on each trip has gone up 10% or more in the last 6 months. They can say whatever they want, the government can come up with these fake numbers and lie, lie, lie, just like the president. They use magnesium ore and other ridiculous commodities to justify them, but they're not using numbers that affect our lives on a daily basis, I can tell you that with absolute certainty.

I'm old enough to actually remember hearing Nixon speak. Republican Presidents along the way have not been the brightest IMHO, but compared to Trump they sound geniuses.

I was not a Reagan fan or fan of Bush Sr. and Jr. But these men were much more equipped to be diplomats although their agenda was questionable to me in many cases.

IMHO, among all the Presidents I've known Trump has got to be the least articulate, least diplomatic President. He's obviously not much of a humanitarian, unleashes the most absurd rhetoric almost daily and is seems primarily concerned with himself, how he looks (at least in his own mind) and serving his own fragile ego. (for instance the TACO back and forth press conference)

Just unbelievable how modern propaganda techniques combined with the power of social media and it's algorithms tune programing to those susceptible to his subtle message of hate, intolerance, fear, protectionism, bigotry and the like. He's gained favor by stoking the fears and hate in others and giving them scapegoats to blame for what they think is lacking in their lives. (Immigrants and the radical left he says) His supporters appear to have embraced being victims that actually think he has their best interest in mind.

One can only hope and pray (if they have a God in their lives) that something will happen to change him in a radical and transforming way. Something to help him understand the errors of his ways and do a reversal of sorts.

You are absolutely correct, Trump makes Reagan, Bush Sr., and Bush Jr. looked like stable geniuses, and exceptionally talented diplomats, and that's saying a lot.

The reality is that he's setting the bar so low anybody by comparison looks good. 2nd worst of all time? Likely.

Well not to get into a who's-on-first argument, I lived in mid-town Manhattan late 1970's when Donald Trump was becoming The-Donald.

His first forays into the political realm were his editorial on the 1989 Central Park 5 and the approx. 2012 Obama birth issue.  But he really showed much of what he would try to do later in the 1990 Playboy interview.

I pretty much looked on his 2016 Presidential run as a publicity stunt. I underestimated him as did many others -- and I don't do so now.
