snoop1130 Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Picture courtesy of Thai Newsroom In response to ongoing tensions along the Thai-Cambodian border, schools under the Border Patrol Police (BPP) Division in Surin province conducted a comprehensive evacuation drill on the morning of June 6. This exercise aimed to equip students with the skills needed to respond effectively in crisis situations, following a recent clash at Chong Bok in Ubon Ratchathani province on May 28. The drill involved students from several BPP 21 schools in the Dong Rak, Kap Choeng, and Buachet districts. Led by headmasters and teachers, the exercises focused on systematic evacuation procedures, emphasizing the importance of staying calm and heading to designated bunkers within the school grounds and nearby villages. Pol. Col. Jakkarin Onndee, commander of BPP21, and his team supervised the drill, underscoring their commitment to maintaining the safety and preparedness of students and school personnel. This initiative reflects a strategic approach to handling potential risks, encapsulated in the principle, "Thailand loves peace but is not afraid of war." The phrase signifies a dedication to robust preparedness while striving for peace. Through these drills, the schools aim to build resilience and confidence in both students and staff, ensuring that they can respond swiftly and efficiently in the event of future escalations along the border. The practice not only prepares individuals for emergencies but also reinforces a sense of security amid the prevailing tensions. Adapted by ASEAN Now from Thai Newsroom 2025-06-06 1 1 1 1

Sounds like some interesting stories to be told. Be great to hear some Thai perspectives on that era. 3
