Cambodia has deployed 12,000 troops to the Thai-Cambodian border area of Chong Bok, Ubon Ratchathani, according to local security sources.

The escalation comes after increased tensions near the Ta Moan Thom Temple in Surin's Phanom Dong Rak district. The military build-up intensified following a Cambodian soldier's death in recent clashes.

Since February, Cambodia has strategically positioned its forces, expanding troop numbers and military hardware.

The arsenal includes four-barrel rocket launchers on six-wheel trucks, RM-70 multiple rocket launchers, SH-1A howitzers, and T-55 tanks, significantly enhancing their operational capabilities.

Cambodia's military aims to fortify its border stance with comprehensive equipment, including 60 mm mortars and BM-21 multiple rocket launchers.

Both Thai and Cambodian forces have been augmenting their military postures amidst ongoing tensions along the border.

The Cambodian deployment, now at 12,000 forces, reflects heightened security measures in response to recent confrontations.

The situation remains closely monitored by both countries, with diplomatic efforts crucial to de-escalate the increasing military presence.

Smells of political theater, and works toward making the newly empowered son look more suitable as a leader. If they have a "win" of sorts maybe even a "hero".

As the current prime minister loves the W.E.F i think a little persuasion by certain elites to cause a distraction. them and the W.HO are dying for global lockdowns, depopulation, a 1 world government . its happening all over with corrupt politicians

Paint Balls at the ready a few skirmishes some red painted splashed on their battle fatigues maybe a friendly game of footie before they all go back to their Barracks

I’m fairly ignorant about military hardware, but isn’t the top picture one of an anti aircraft gun?

Sending in a few buses complete with drunken drivers should reduce the numbers

yes it is,but are also used for hitting low flying planes

I thought that boarder dispute was settled in international court in Cambodia's favor. Maybe I was wrong or maybe the Thai government didn't get the memo? Don't worry. It won't be much of  fight. Big Brother to the North will not allow two if its client states to fight for very long. If I were Thailand I might be concerned. Didn't the Kilmer empire once subjugated much of Thailand in the past?

Actually, I find it amusing. Both Thailand and Cambodia should be glad that they are not in a dispute with Vietnam. that would not end well for either of them.

Khmer temples go as far as Kanchanaburi.

Hopefully they can regain all of that territory. 🙂

So the military have 'taken over' the running / management of the border but have they closed it and which border crossings or is it all of them?

It's a regular Romeo and Juliette drama.

Yep.  It's a ZU-23-2 = twin barrelled, 23mm autocannon.  Introduced by the Soviet Union, but copied by China.

While it was meant to be a short-range AA gun, the one you see here, in Africa, and in Ukraine, are mostly used against vehicles, light armor, buildings, and infantry.

They can fire explosive shells which are devastating against infantry, even hidden in woods or buildings.

Great .. Crispy baguettes and much cheaper beer wine & cheese

so thailand shares a border with burma cambodia laos and malaysia and seems to sit right in the middle of all kinds of dictators/discord.

Burma is total mess with dictator.  Malaysia and Thailand have all sorts of spiffs on southern border. Now here we go with Cambodia spiff and Trump for some reason puts Laos on no travel list.

per rodney king:  "can't we all just get along?"

Just declare war, winner takes all, why go through this nonsense every few years?

But what for? They both have rice and cassava, hookers and beaches, buffalo and fish. Share the temple, land and resources. Idiots can't understand equality. Ukraine isn't teaching bystanders a lesson?
