I will continue using the latter; happy in the knowledge that Internet Banking does NOT apply to my banking app.

But of course, the two interact. Take money out and it shows in both media. Your personal details, username and password are both the same. No?

I have just this very minute called the bank and they confirmed they are cancelling Internet Banking but the App WILL CONTINUE TO WORK.

Was that ever in doubt?  The graphic shown in the OP from the Krungsri website even points you towards it.

I di it too, works with Bkk Bank app fine. Install Bluestacks, and then the Android apps you want to use on your PC. Half an hour, tops.

Do you have the SCB Easy app and does that work as well - as my understanding is they only allow it on one device but I could be wrong?

(Bangkok Bank still has web access so you don't really need it for them)

Do u understand that they will follow Bangkok Bank policy and close the account to those who don't have the right visa to have an account in Thailand? Don't be surprised if alot more happens even to expats and ur accounts in a thai bank.My daughter who have a thai passport open an account in her name and let me use it when im in Thailand.I dont trust this country at all.

I'm wondering if Krungsri (etc) will allow you to have your account on more than one device at a time?

Very unlikely. Bangkok Bank used to allow this, but then came a BoT rule change that forced them to end it. That should apply to all Thai banks.

but there is a difference between using your app on your phone and sitting down at your computer. Didn't you realise there was a difference between Internet Banking and using your app? They are two completely different mediums.

What two different "mediums" are we talking about? There is ONE medium and its called the internet. Internet banking is connecting to your bank using a PC, laptop, iPad, mobile phone or anything that can access the internet. The people on this thread who seem to think internet banking is just sitting at a desktop PC are mistaken. I do agree with your other point that using a mobile device interface is far easier these days and probably why some banks are doing away with their web site access altogether.

Krungsri's internet banking option to access one's account using the bank's website will be going away. The only option left will be to use Krungsri's app, same as SCB.

UOB & Bangkok Bank still allow customers to use both options, the website access (without app) and using the phone app. Those are two separate options, but they both use the internet. Do you agree?

Install Bluestacks Android Emulator on your PC, then you can put all your phone banking apps onto that. Big screen and mouse.

Sorry impulse, didn't see your earlier advice. Works fine for me.

Thanks too for that suggestion. I'd used Bluestacks in the past for Android video streaming app stuff and it was fine for a time... But then they kept coming out with new versions of the BS software, and every time I upgraded to the latest version, the user experience and functionality seemed to get worse!  And BS also didn't support required DRM in some Android video streaming apps.  So at some point, I gave up on that, uninstalled it all, and went to just using Google TV streaming devices instead....

But the banking apps only approach within Bluestacks, that certainly might be an interesting alternative to explore!

I subscribe to an IPTV company in UK, no names, and for 30 quid a year I get ALL channels I will ever need, movies, series, sports, and it works on B,stacks on my PC perfectly.

Together with NORD VPN I can get ALL UK channels, with catch up etc.

Yep, in my many years of experience and having tried and tested most of the major providers, Nord is the one MOST friendly and compatible with all kinds of  streaming service activity.... whereas many others claim to support streaming, but when you actually go to use their servers, they're often blocked or get recognized as VPN services and draw the "you're using a VPN" error message.

I don't know anything about Krungsri, but my apps for UOB & Kasikorn are separate from their internet banking. I'm sure that's what the OP meant. Also, SCB does not have internet banking anymore, but they still have the app for banking transactions.

Bottom line, all banks (also in other countries) are trying to consolidate all banking to one platform - an app.

Why?   If the bank has internet banking and an app they need to maintain two computer systems which is not cheap. So they consolidate onto just an app.

I have a particular practical gripe with the Thai banking apps... apart from not liking to do personal banking stuff and having to do typing for that on a small 6 inch phone screen.

On my phone, I use several very essential for me extensions that require the use of "accessibility services" in Android to be turned on. And, the Thai banking apps don't allow that, meaning, every time I want to use the banking app, I have to go into my Android settings and turn off 3-4 accessibility service settings one by one, and then go back and re-enable them when I done with the banking apps...  It's just an ANNOYING HASSLE!

Sounds like you need a better phone.

Some https always detect VPN use.  National Lootery UK, and Channel 5 TV.

Yes I did mean Lootery! 555

The headline hovers very close to "click bait" - it would be more appropriate to mention that online banking will be restricted to their app, and no longer supported through web browsers. And you might also want to explain that banking through web browsers is an order of magnitude more prone to "unfriendly attacks" than using an app (preferably not using WiFi) on a smartphone. A number of banks have gone away from web based banking already.

Been expecting this since SCB did the same. I'm fairly old school but I have to say that the Krungsri App is fairly simple to use once you've experimented with it for a while.

Me too, especially as I have a small iPhone SE which has about a 4.7 inch screen and even without the banking app on it I'm constantly pressing the wrong keys with my fat fingers!

I do all of my banking here and in New Zealand using my computer with its lovely 24 inch screen and I really don't want that to change. As I'm not likely to buy a new iPhone because I only use my phone for phone calls and SMS messages, it looks like I might have to try that Bluestack Android Emulator that someone mentioned if Bangkok Bank decides to do away with its Internet banking (hopefully not).

Krungsri online banking discontinued from 1 October 2025.

One more bites the dust.

How stupid is that . Now one has to use the stupid App on the Phone .

Had the same with one other bankTTB last year. they stopped the Internet banking and must  now use the app on the phone witch is a hassle , hard to operate ,slow and too small , not clear and very difficult  when there's too much light .  Always use the laptop at home for Banking easy peasy.

Was working perfect on the laptop  now only use their  Debit card  for shopping and and online shopping. There's no need for using a banking App on the go . People can Wait till one can use internet banking at Home .Works for us, we can transfer  funds Today or tomorrow  or the day after ,No problem. If I get Refunds they go Straight back on the Debit card account  that  I use ,I don't use the Wallet And any other rubbish.

Transferring some funds I use the Bangkok Bank Internet Banking   until they stop that.

I only want to use the   phone for phone calls  Phones are Not safe for anything else .

People are made to believe that they are save. I say BS. At home everything is more Secure if one takes care. 🙏

It causes a big problem for people who live abroad . I know one of my customers hasn't been to Thailand for 6 years and has to send funds via the online banking  to pay her electricity and water and maintenance payments for her Condominium.

She did have the app , but has changed her phone and you cant reinstall the app outside of Thailand

Also if you have the app already and go back to your country for a few months and change or lose your phone , you have to go to the Thai bank in person to have the app installed back on your replacement phone. So If your in your own country and want transfer funds from your Thai bank  , you wont be able to.

This also happened to me living here in Siem Reap.

When I moved from Thailand, I opened an account with ABA which offered Online Banking on laptop and home computers. Within 6 months this facility was withdrawn and one had to use their APP on a smartphone. I have never owned a smartphone and tried to complain but to no avail. So I went further along the street and opened a new account with JTB (formerly ANZ). I went back to ABA, closed my account, withdrew all the cash and deposited it in the new account with JTB. Easy. 4 years later JTB still actively promotes online banking for computers in its advertisements.  The only grief and hassle for me was having to notify my 3 pension companies of my new bank account after 6 months of initially informing them of the first one.

The "I don't need no app" people must hate this, was always going to happen

It's pretty damn hard to use the phone app if the print is too small for you to read.  If I make the font large enough to easily read then I can only see a small portion of the page.

Having 3 pensions sounds like it would be a nice problem to have.

I personally have the opposite feelings and love the app and stopped using computer banking years ago. It just felt less secure and clunky. But each to her own.

My I respectfully suggest you try reading glasses. Millions of people use banking app and don't have your problem.

When SCB stopped it's online banking I asked them why. I was told they could no longer keep up with the increasing IT risks (of hackers I guess).
