They gotta go back through the airport sooner or later ! Thats when they’ll be

nabbed .

Without their names how is this to be achieved? Do you think all Immigration officers will have the video playing on a loop?

How is that even possible?

Maybe one of them transferred the money to the others account. Then showed that payment slip on their phone. Massage people briefly glanced at it, maybe saw amount and not much else because the phone was whisked away.

Looking at e transfer slips on mobile phones is like checking signatures on credit cards. Very rarely done properly, if at all.

Perhaps got their details from the motorbike they used....presuming the police are making the effort.

I understand from Thai food vendors at the market that attempted non-payments are currently a major problem.
The scammers create fake payment screenshots, sometimes editing in the correct recipient using Photoshop.
They scan the QR code, tap around on their phone for a bit, then show the vendor the doctored screenshot.

Because the market is often busy and noisy, sellers may not hear the payment confirmation sound on their phones. As a result, many now connect a speaker to their phones to ensure they can hear when a payment comes through.

It's possible the Russians had prepared such a fake payment screenshot in advance and had to negotiate the price to match what was shown in their fake proof of payment.

Those cheapskates ,eat and dash , are the bane of foreigners living in pattaya and phuket. I believe in karma and those eat and dash might have the unpaid ingested food in their stomach turning into something else. Never indulge in something that is not rightfully paid for. Karma is a bitch and it never forgets. My take

Just trying to understand Full Course "Thai Massage" that is 200 baht to 250 baht an hour normally. Discounted to 350 baht were there add ons not noted?

Anyways pretty sad when 350 baht x 2 = 700 baht is a struggle. I'm guessing no tip also.

350 for a hour is expensive unless thats a oil massage.....But the Ruskies were real slime-balls.....

WOW, 350 baht for an hour?!??!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!  I would expect oil massage, three hours, four beautiful girls in their late 20's, tea, coffee, free biscuits, discounts on future massages, and a bottle of mineral water.

Once I saw a place that wanted 150 baht for an hour.  I argued with her for 29 hours and got it down to 120.  I then gave them 1 star on Google because I think 1 hour should be only 10 baht.

Now, let me give you some reality (see below, highlighted, bolded, easy to read)......hahahahahhahahahahhaha.  That's DOOOOLARS....not baht.   Green money.   USD $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Where a bad massage for an hour, including tip, is $100 USD.   Green.    Over 3200 baht....     Gotta go, wi-fi in helicopter not good

The "magic number" for a comfortable retirement in the US is often cited as $1.26 million,

Following completion of the massage session, the staff informed the couple of the charges. However, the couple reportedly began to dispute the pricing. In an effort to avoid confrontation, the parlour offered to reduce the charge to the basic package rate of 350 baht per person per hour.

So how much was the first amount the massage shop charged??

Look Ukrainian to me. Very dodgy lot the Ukrainians. Hate Russians but are ashamed to admit being Ukrainian!!!

Personally I am much happier to accept that they are Russians rather than Ukranians despite your insinuation that Ukranians are dodgier than Russians (which I find hard to believe).  I just hope they are caught.

Why not back to Russia?

Then, you might not need to be so childishly petty and spiteful.

They were being ripped off anyway!

Usually 2 x 200 baht = 400 baht and yet this story makes the ASEAN headlines!

Have you had a massage lately?....pretty much within standard pricing these days. The masseuses only makes about 100B , a hint to why many masseuses need to push for special services to make ends meet.

The going price for Thai massage is 150-200 baht.

Why negotiate at all...

If the couple (nationality irrelevant) agreed to a certain service at a certain price... why would this be contested and re-negotiated ???

Did the Massage Shop try and pull a fast one and add on 'massage service' to inflate the price ?

Was this a genuine misunderstanding: i.e. massage shop thought they'd agreed one service and the couple thought they'd agreed to another ?... i.e. an error of communication.

Or.... as others are suggesting, were the couple just slimeballs - yes, possible, but not as certain as the story implies.

If the couple could show 'proof of QR' payment (as the story suggests) then surely they paid ? or did they simply show the 'payment page' before they pressed 'authorise' and the staff assumed the rest ?

IMO - this could easily be a genuine mistake and under the confusion of the price, service debate due to miscommunication the couple thought they paid the re-agreed price, then left not knowing the payment had not gone through...

But... because they are Russian, most posters have 'fined, jailed, then deported them already'...  whereas this could just me a misunderstanding and mistake hardly newsworthy at all....   apart from the usual 'media pile on' against certain nationalities.

Wrong...  'the 'going price for a Thai Massage' is whatever it says it is on the menu in the shop !!!...  it varies from establishment to establishment, with or without AC, the quality of the place etc...

I've done that a couple of times when I was drunk. Untrained or unobservant staff didn't notice the red warning that the transaction was incomplete, perhaps because it is in English (BBL app). I had to go back to next day and correct my mistake, it was very embarrassing 😂

I've done similar...   QR payment to a bar etc...   only to walk away to another bar thinking the payment has gone through...

... Fortunately I noticed and back-tracked...    But it would have been highly embarrassing to 'inadvertently' not pay, then find myself on the pages of 'The Tiger' being accused of being a 'Drink and Dash Brit'....  then have all the posters demand my deportation for such obnoxious behavior !!!!

I haven't personally come across scams like this before, but if people are genuinely behaving that way, then I fully support a no-nonsense, hardline response. It's despicable conduct that preys on the trust of others.

It's hardly surprising that in areas with heavy tourist traffic, the bad behaviour of a few individuals can create a broader sense of mistrust and resentment. That in turn leads to poor attitudes toward tourists more generally. But let's not forget - these high-traffic spots tend to attract scammers on both sides of the equation. It becomes a double-edged sword of suspicion and opportunism, fuelling a cycle of negativity.

That’s exactly why I tend to steer clear of such areas whenever possible – unless I’m heading there to party with friends. In such situations, I’m just operating at a heightened level of awareness, ready to spot trouble before it starts which kind of impacts the enjoyment somewhat.

I could handle being called all sorts of names however I don't think I could suffer the indignity of only making it to the back pages of The Thaiger. I'd want a mention in the Post at least.
