KOH PHANGAN – A Russian DJ, who turned into a drug dealer on Koh Phangan, attempted to dispose of drugs in the sea upon spotting police but was apprehended subsequently.

 

On 8th June 2025, Koh Phangan's tourist police received intelligence about a foreign DJ suspected of selling drugs to tourists.

 

Under the command of Pol. Lt. Gen. Saksira Phueng-am, the police organised a sting operation to capture 37-year-old Russian national Mr. Vigen Atoian, also known as DJ Vigen.

Undercover agents contacted Atoian through WhatsApp, arranging to buy cocaine and ketamine. The transaction was set to occur at Hua Thian Pier.

 

During the exchange, officers moved in, prompting Atoian to try to flee on a motorbike, but he was trapped and resorted to throwing the drugs into the sea.

 

Police retrieved plastic bags containing suspected cocaine powder from the rocks.

 

The seized evidence included:

 

2.20 grams of cocaine
2.04 grams of ketamine
Four e-cigarettes
13,000 baht in marked notes
A red motorcycle
iPhone 14 and OPPO mobiles

Atoian confessed to working as a DJ and selling drugs at parties in Koh Phangan and Koh Samui. He was charged with possession and distribution of cocaine, ketamine, and MDMA without a licence and customs violations for possessing goods not cleared by customs.

 

Previously, on 5th July 2024, Atoian was arrested for reckless driving causing severe injury and property damage.

Just about every beach club I see advertised has one if not several non Thai DJs always playing there.

His name suggests that he may be ethnic Armenian

He was arrested for a hit and run last year... surprised he is still here/not in jail.

He is Russian if he is a Russian citizen and holds a Russian passport.

 

Not his first run in with the police. He  was charged with hit and run in July 2024.

Whats more interesting is another news story suggest he was using a nationwide AI agent to arrange sales
