I’ve been at the protests in Los Angeles this week, and I have news for you: The city is not facing an “insurrection.” In the vast expanse that is Los Angeles County, the rallies barely register as a blip. The protests are confined to a very small area of downtown. The protesters I spoke to weren’t anarchists bent on burning down the system. They were mostly young people — first- or second-generation U.S. citizens — protesting the persecution their immigrant parents are enduring. They are certainly not “insurrectionist migrant mobs.”

And for the most part, yes, the protests have been peaceful. There have been isolated — and reprehensible — incidents of looting and vandalism, but nothing near the scale of past riots in Los Angeles. The notion that the situation is under control thanks to the National Guard is simply false. The LAPD has been managing the response very well.

Los Angeles isn’t a “ruptured, balkanized society of strangers.” It is not “occupied territory.” It certainly isn’t experiencing the consequences of an “invasion.” What Los Angeles, this vibrant, pluralistic city where dozens of languages and nationalities coexist, is experiencing is an attack on its most essential social fabric — a concerted campaign of terror. Since last Friday, when Immigration and Customs Enforcement began its operations, the immigrant community in the city that best embodies the immigrant experience in the United States has been paralyzed.

I only saw 3 potential protestors about about 100 people with press vests on.  Looked like a pretty boring press party to me.  Everyone brought cameras and no one provided beverages.

If any job taken by an illegal immigrant,  finds a legal resident to take over, then it's obvious to make things right again. But obviously the legal resident would ask for more wage.

Why do you think all over Europe, the politicians are closing their eyes on the illegals ? Usually the mafias in Italy, eastern Europe, France or even in the UK are in close contact with the human trafickers who bring in the illegal labour. Labour that is then used for drug trafficking, prostitutions, menial jobs in farms, fields, restaurants that no legal wants to do. They also have support from the far left antifa woke political groups and thus the corruption and exploitation of the illegals continue,

Any country that tolerates illegals to be in it's territory is contributing to human trafficking and exploitation.

So sorry, I don't like Trump at all. But despite him, he is making life miserable for all those exploiting human illegal labour and seems to be the only western leader to take appropriate steps to fight all the human trafficking. Like it or not.

What are you talking about? Trump just made it okay for hotels, restaurants, and farms to hire illegals. He has ordered ICE to stop taking those workers into custody for deportation.

What I really don't get it why President Trump is concentrating on Dem cities. We know that these illegals bring crime, dirt, and disease wherever they go. So why is he favoring lefties who would never vote for him in a million years? Why isn't he cleaning up areas where MAGA supporters are the vast majority?

ICE Arrests Fugitive Murderer Released into American Neighborhoods by the Biden Administration

Release Date: November 11, 2025

70% of ICE arrests have been of criminal illegal aliens convicted or charged with a crime in the U.S, those who committed crimes in foreign countries are not counted in that statistic

WASHINGTON – The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that on November 4 in Los Angeles, CA, ICE officers arrested Victoria Sorocean, an illegal alien from Moldova wanted in her home country for murder committed with premeditation and exceptional cruelty.

In September 2013, Sorocean and an accomplice were convicted of intentional murder, and she was sentenced to 17 years in prison. Sorocean and an accomplice tortured their victim in an apartment in Chisinau, Moldova. They beat the victim with a stick and electrical cable before throwing the victim out a ninth-floor window.

In an attempt to evade a 17-year prison sentence, Sorocean fled to the United States. Under the first Trump Administration, ICE arrested her on January 10, 2020. Following her arrest, Sorocean engaged in various legal tactics to avoid removal, including filing multiple appeals with the Board of Immigration Appeals and seeking asylum.

In 2022, Sorocean was released back into the country under the Biden administration.

“It shocks the conscience that the Biden Administration released into America a cruel, violent illegal alien who tortured a human being, beat them with an electrical cable and a stick, and then threw her victim from a ninth-floor window,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia

McLaughlin. “These are the types of barbaric criminal illegal aliens ICE is targeting every single day. 70% of all ICE arrests are of illegal aliens charged or convicted of a crime in the U.S. This does not even include foreign fugitives like this convicted murderer. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, the world’s criminals are no longer welcome in the U.S.”

This case highlights the failures of the previous administration which allowed millions of illegal aliens, including violent criminals and murderers like Sorocean, to roam free in American neighborhoods.

Funny how someone who claims to be suspicious of what governments say, can swallow wholesale claims like this.

  • External Data: Nonpublic ICE data obtained by research organizations presents a different picture.
    • A Cato Institute analysis of data from June 2025 indicated that 65% of people processed into the ICE system had no criminal convictions.
    • A TRAC report from September 2025 found that 71.5% of those held in ICE detention had no criminal conviction.
  • Nature of Offenses: Independent analyses suggest that among those with convictions, a large portion are for minor offenses such as immigration violations, traffic infractions, and nonviolent vice crimes, rather than violent felonies.
  •
In summary, the 70% figure represents the official position and messaging from the DHS/Trump administration, while independent analyses of nonpublic ICE data suggest a significantly lower percentage of arrested individuals have U.S. criminal convictions

And what percentage of such miscarriages of justice have to do with illegal aliens. Citing horror stories as a way to make policy is the strategy of fools or worse.

Do you know that nine percent of the population in LA is illegal?

https://laist.com/news/politics/usc-study-undocumented-immigrants-los-angeles-county

I have lived in California for over 20 years stretching across 1982 to 2019. , Santa Maria/Lompoc, San Diego (rancho Bernardo), and all over Los Angeles and Orange County, Burbank, Redondo Beach, Canoga Park, Orange, and others.  Yes huge numbers of immigrants there.  Most exist quite well and many do tasks or jobs that many other people will not do.  However, many are here illegally and many flout the existing immigration laws.  Years ago, several major hospitals in the Los Angeles area closed and went out of business due to the emergency rooms being inundated by un insured people, most of which were immigrants.  The hospitals tried to help but they simply went broke.  I think that the pendulum may have swung too far in one direction the last decade or so.
