I need to ship 200-300 KG of goods from Thailand to the United states.

Options include:

  • Airfreight (air cargo)
  • Ocean freight LCL (less than full container load)

The term is DDP United States.

The cost of the goods is less than $800

Can you, please recommend a good freight forwarder with experience in US customs clearance and shipping from Thailand to the United States.

Thank you.

ChatGPT:

The cost of shipping 200–300 kg of goods from Thailand to the USA depends on several factors, including:

  • Shipping method: Air freight vs. sea freight

  • Type of goods: General cargo, hazardous, perishable, etc.

  • Packaging size/volume: Charged by volumetric weight if bulky

  • Destination in the USA: East Coast vs. West Coast

  • Service level: Port-to-port, door-to-door, customs clearance

  • Carrier and freight forwarder pricing

1. Air Freight (Fastest, Most Expensive)

  • Estimated cost:

    • $4–$8 per kg (for general cargo)

    • 200 kg = $800–$1,600

    • 300 kg = $1,200–$2,400

  • Transit time: ~3–7 days

  • Best for: Time-sensitive or high-value goods

2. Sea Freight (Cheaper, Slower)

  • Estimated cost (LCL – Less than Container Load):

    • $100–$200 per cubic meter (volume-based, not weight)

    • Total cost estimate: $500–$1,200 for 200–300 kg, depending on volume

  • Transit time: ~25–40 days (port-to-port)

  • Best for: Bulk shipments, cost-sensitive goods

3. Courier Services (DHL, FedEx, UPS)

  • Much more expensive for heavy shipments

  • Example: FedEx/DHL rates for 200 kg can exceed $3,000–$5,000

  • Not recommended unless for urgent or small parcels

Additional Costs to Consider:

  • Customs duties and taxes in the US

  • Thai export handling charges

  • Insurance (optional but recommended)

  • Destination delivery or pickup
