in my opinion that's better done separate from extension time.

Ideally, best to do it in conjunction with an in-person 90-day report.

Agree. Here in Surin I've done it a couple of times over the years, always coinciding with 90-day report. No papers required, no request from me, just hand over the old & the new p/p. All done in 5 minutes.

How do HH get away with charging 500 baht to transfer an Extension?  Surely they should be reported to the Immigration corruption hotline?

He must have been on a Baht per stamp piecework's rate as I since found out it or was supposed to be free🤔

Indeed, it's a free service.  You're not the first in Hua Hin to be charged for a free service though!

Nice! That's when a more rural or outlying immigration office does have its benefit. I've done this twice now. The first time, ten years ago, it was rather chill, even at CW, and close to your experience.

The most recent one, nine-plus years later and also at CW, wasn't a 'walk in the park' thing. As I said earlier, it's not all that onerous, but the experience was of a borderline 'mini-extension' type, doing the stamp transfer and then the 90-dayer. Even had a holdup at the 90-day desk at CW, issue with the my rental agent's freshly-issued updated TM-30, which took about an hour to resolve.

This is sounding a lot more complicated than when I did this 9 years ago.

Last week, I mailed my passport to the US Embassy in Bangkok for the renewal process.  The website says 4-8 weeks.  My plan was to get the new passport and when I go to apply for my Driver's License in October, transfer the stamps at immigration to my new passport the same day I get that form for the DL, showing my residency.

Except.... I forgot about the 90 day reporting, which is in September, and I do on online.  I could use my old passport # for the 90 day, but now I'm thinking that when I do the next 90 day on line in December it might be rejected because of new number not in the system.     Peak tourist (Phuket) season in December , do not want to go to immigration during that time if possible.

My question, after this long explanation, is, Do you think that I should go to immigration in September and get the new stamps in the new passport   and do a physical 90-day at the drive through?  Then start up 90 day on line in December.

A lot less people at immigration in September.  What is your opinion?  Thank you.

Hope this is not too confusing.  There are so many i's to dot and t's to cross.

IMO you are making simple appear difficult.

Thinking recent reports of USA passport renewal process closer to the 4 week process time.

If your 90 day window is open when you transfer stamps then yes do the report after transfer.

As for the COR certificate of Residence for TDL, you can obtain that after transfer of stamps and visa info.

Yes, I am an overthinker.  Could have worse faults, I guess.

I was trying to do everything one time... not going to happen is it?  😃   I'll transfer stamps and do 90 day in September.  Then go back in October for the COR.  I think it's only good for 30 days?  Not a busy time at immigration Sept/Oct.

Looks like a lot more docs needed for transferring stamps than 9 years ago.  I'll bring the book with me!   Thank you.

Think that's a good plan.

Regarding the docs required for the 3 things you want.

1. Transfer

2. 90 report

3. COR

That can depend on the office or even the day.

Yes COR valid for a month.

Think you mentioned Phuket?

Not sure about Phuket regarding transfer of stamps CW currently is requiring bank book + update to check financial compliance.

I'll just bring everything, like I'm renewing my extension.  That way they can pick what they want.  Except, do they want a letter and statement too at the CW office?  Now that would be a pain.

Yes Phuket,

Is the COR form in the immigration form link on the website?  Can you give me the number?  I'll just print it out now while I'm thinking about it.....overthinking.  😅

Thanks for your advise.

CW does not require a Bank statement nor want Bank letter.

Just photocopies of Bank book pages back to date of current extension + Bank book update.

I just made a 100b deposit

So if i re-enter Thailand with my new passport, i need to transfer the stamps asap. I have to report to immigration anyway as normal within 48 hours of arrival where they will give me a new date for my next 90 day report.

Do i do that first, or transfer the stamps then get the new 90 day report date?

That depends on office. Some reports of attending immigration re TM30 after trip abroad and being told... "If returning to same address not required"

You don't need immigration give you a date for new report.

Date of entry is day 1.

Due date 89 days later.

That report needs to be done in person.

Does not need to be done ASAP.

Needs to be done prior to (or same visit) for dealing with immigration.

eg 90 report etc

Whenever i re enter Thailand i go to immigration within 48 hours, i tell them 'same address', so no new TM30 is needed (will i need to do a new TM30 if i have a new passport?), then i hand them my passport, and 3 minutes later my passport is returned with a new 90 day report slip which has the date of my next 90 day report on.

My question was, if i decide to to the stamp transfer the same day, do i do my 90 day paperwork before i transfer stamps or after?

After. Transfer stamps first.

Some immigration offices the one officer will do both.

At CW the transfer is done at extension desks and 90 report another area.

Thanks. And is a new TM30 required with new passport or is that transferred?

Have seen reports where a new TM30 was not done for new pp.

Personally I would do a new TM30

No new TM30 for me in CM when I had new passport last year and transferred stamps.

Recent report at Jomtien.

New TM30 NOT required for stamp transfer or even retirement extension.

However, new TM30 is needed for the next 90 day report which must be done in person supported by a new TM30.

Likely varies office to office.
