Hi,

I did my non O extension renewal last month and have the usual "under consideration" stamp to go back on 14th July. All good. All docs, financials etc were spot on.

Just today something unexpected came up and I need to make a fairly chunky payment tomorrow which will see me dip under 400k. I can move some money here but not in time. I am sure there is no question as they have a full 6 month statement in my application and it's always been well above 400k.

Is there any chance they may ask to see my bank balance again when I go back on the 14th? It didn't happen last time and I have never heard of it, but it is bothering me. Has anyone heard of this happening? Are we officially required to keep the money seeded until final approval, or only until the application? Do I have any need to worry? If so maybe I can borrow from a Thai friend in the interim to cover me until my funds arrive, but I would rather not if I don't have to.

Thanks for any advice.

I have never read a report of final stamp being refused due to not maintaining the 400k during under consideration period.

Have stated that you are supposed to do so.

You would receive a "don't do it again"

I do not recommend people not maintaining the funds.

What's the big deal with transferring some funds.

That's a bit harsh.  Not everyone is in the same financial position and I'm sure if there were funds available they'd be on their way already.  Nevertheless hopefully your advice proves to be the case and the extension is stamped without further ado.

Yeah, thanks.

@DrJack54 As I mentioned I have to make an urgent sizeable payment from here tomorrow, and moving funds here from overseas can take 2-3 days. In that interim period I will dip below 400k unless I borrow from a friend here first and repay when the funds arrive. I would just rather avoid troubling anyone if it is not too risky.

Thanks.

As pointed out above. My transfers are instant.

Some time back I awake to almost urgent need for hip replacement.

400k. Ended up more.

You aren't admitted to private hospital unless you pay significant amount.

I have low tolerance for folk living in Thailand on limited resources.

it is just bad timing.

As I posted earlier... The final stamp will be issued.

You are not first that did not maintain funds during under consideration period.

You at worst will be reminded to maintain the funds.. Next time.

BTW: Hope some bad breaks are behind you and family

More than a year ago the immigration office at Chaengwattana stopped requiring people with under consideration stamp based on marriage to update their bank and bring in a copy

You should be fine, they don't ask to see your bank book when you show up to get your extension inked in

@DrJack54 - yes, but... keep in mind that that's not true for everyone.

It likely depends on the country and bank of the source of funds, as well as the deposit bank in Thailand. My latest deposit of THB 10,000, that was sitting in my WISE balance, took 24 hours to arrive to the account at Bangkok Bank. I've had transfers that took 2-3 days to arrive. One time it was 5 days. Fortunately, I have not been in the situation that OP describes, but those delays are real, and they affect many of us, often at the most inopportune times.

I like to keep emergency funds on hand, but to come up with THB400k within 24 hours could be a challenging.

Yes. USA.

The OP stated that he's transferring from UK, unless I'm mistaken. That's why I said, the WISE transfer times appear to vary by the originating country (and possibly the originating bank).
