I love pineapple, we always used to buy pineapple chunks from the little stalls at the side of the 331 road close to the big pineapple fields, but now Makro has them ready cut into big chunks which require no trimming, ready packed in sealed containers, all of which inspired me to do some research on the benefits of this fruit, here is what I found:

Aids digestion

Pineapple has a significant amount of fiber, which is associated with better digestion.

Relieves arthritis pain

Anti-inflammatory power of pineapple’s bromelain may provide pain relief for people with osteoarthritis. “If you have achy joints from osteoarthritis, try adding pineapple into your diet

Believed to help with weight loss

Most weight loss experts recommend a diet rich in fruits and vegetables if you’re trying to shed pounds.

Pineapple could help with fat burning because of its enzymes .

Promotes tissue healing

“Pineapple is the only food known to contain bromelain, an enzyme that helps your skin and tissues heal,”  “Bromelain appears to produce substances that combat in pain and swelling.”

Fights inflammation

The anti-inflammatory power in bromelain can help fight inflammation and may suppress the growth of certain tumors.

Vitamins in a pineapple

High in Vitamin Supports immune function, skin health, and iron absorption.

Bromelain Enzyme: Aids digestion (especially of proteins), may reduce inflammation.

Antioxidants: Helps fight oxidative stress and supports healing.

Anti-inflammatory: Some studies suggest bromelain helps with sinusitis and joint pain.

Best time to eat them

Morning Good for digestion and hydration Great fiber boost for energy

Pre-Workout Bromelain may aid performance Sustained energy, low sugar spike

After Meal Can aid digestion of proteins

Here is a little comparison gif for pineapple vs apple that GPT made for me:

What to Know About Bromelain For Inflammation, Digestion, and More
If the sweet flavor and hydrating power of pineapple weren’t enough to make you a fan, the potential benefits of pineapple-derived bromelain may make you a convert. Bromelain, a complex mixture of protease enzymes found in the juice and stem of pineapples has a long history of being used to treat a host of issues, including digestion, swelling, and inflammation. “Pineapple has been used as part of traditional folk medicine since ancient times and it continues to be present in various herbal preparations,” notes one scientific review that looked at the potential role of the enzyme in clinical and therapeutic applications.

And semen is a mood enhancer

So a win win for your wife and you if you eat more of pineapple

According to a study conducted by researchers at SUNY Albany, semen is known to contain mood-altering chemicals like oxytocin, cortisol, serotonin, endorphins, estrone and melatonin which play in a factor in one's overall happiness

Used to love eating pineapple, as well as unripe mangoes, tomatoes and anything else that's sour. Unfortunately, those days are over due to stomach lining issues.

I will say though that as good as pineapples are, they have no business being on a pizza.😁
