That makes it more dangerous for pedestrians now. Avoiding the dimwits on bikes heading for the very space they will be walking on.

Which is why they need to place them the whole way across the road - not just onto the 'driving lanes'...

Take a cruise along Pranburi beach rd, there's got to be about near 20 within 2 kms stretch :coffee1:

Which is one every 100m - which does not seem excessive at all...

... If fact that sounds like an excellent traffic (speed) calming measure - they seem to have the balance right the area you describe.

You...  thinking you're in a Rolls-Royce Ghost and not Toyota Altis and can 'glide' over speed bumps !!!

... Also highlighting that you have no regard for the reason they are there in the first place...   combo of both stupidity and selfishness - Its of no surprise at all that the 'dumb comment' of the thread originates from your username....

Those things should be installed everywhere on every road until self driving cars are mainstream

How is that dumb?

If you were working for the local government and saw an opportunity to make 5k Baht out of every speed bump, I'm sure you'd put in as many as you could.

My bet is that someone in the decision-making process has connections with someone who supplies and/or fits these. And the more that are laid, the more kick backs are paid. It's the same near where I live, but with the super thick paint rumble strips, which are everywhere, except where they would benefit safety.

Here this road is a single lane country road behind a temple and they have managed to paint THREE sets of these rumble strips in 30m, AFTER a tight bed, to warn drivers of a bridge that has an elevation of about 45-60cm. The pic was taken before they did this.

On the flip side outside Nonthaburi Provincial court there are three of these concrete speedbumps, but ZERO warning, so you hit the first one at speed then you don't know how many more there are, if any. It's total greedy retardedness. https://maps.app.goo.gl/y57DcBTGpgXRNL7y9

It makes you wonder what actually goes on inside these peoples heads, is there any sort of activity going on in there?

Hey the guy who ordered them may have stuttered a lot  :sorry:

🤣🤣 This is insane! The people in charge should really be looked at! Drunk? 😆😆

NO LIMITS!!🤣🤣🤣

Nearly as bad as Phoenix Gold Golf and Country Club. They've even put them on the golf cart tracks now.

We need some speed bumps or

"Sleeping  Policemen" here in Pratumnak before another person gets killed.

They are very good, cheap and effective at slowing cars down.

There NO REASON NOT TO HAVE THEM on all the Sois running down to the shore. Recently gangs of motorcycle riders have been driving up and down the soi

Last week a girl was killed on Soi 3. It's only a matter of time before someone else is killed. It is INEVITABLE.

There is ZERO POLICE PRESENCE in the area. I am no lover of the police BUT they  have a job to do. WHY don't.they do it?

The bikes are INCREDIBLY NOISY and create a horrible disturbance.

This is precisely the issue we’re facing in our moobaan.

Most residents drive with care - respectful of speed limits and mindful that children often play in the street. It’s a shared space, and fortunately the community is kind of middle-class, educated and generally behaves with consideration in mind.

The problem lies with delivery motorcycle deliveries. They routinely swerve around the speed bumps to avoid slowing down, completely ignoring the intended purpose of those traffic-calming measures.

In response, some residents placed flower pots at the edges of the bumps to block the bikes from swerving around the speedbumps - only to be told by the juristic committee that personal items aren't permitted on the road.

Now, many of us are pushing to have the speed bumps extended fully across the road to eliminate these gaps altogether.

Ironically, the only truly effective deterrent at present is when an adult physically stands in the street while the children are playing. Only then do the delivery riders seem to take notice and actually reduce their speed.

We've had the security guards tell riders to go slowly - but this in instruction which they forget to pass on quite quickly - its an unreliable measure....

The only alternative was to ban delivery vehicles and have them deliver the rest of the way on foot - but clearly this was unpractical too.

All of the villagers could have a meeting and agree not to order delivered food etc from now on.

A bit of proactive action might help instead of expecting others to fix the problem for you.

Cowboys complaining as they want to go fast, they don't damage if you go slow, totally agree with you

Well.it was Friday afternoon see,and they had all these speed bumps left over see,and they didn't want to drag them all back to the depot see. So,,,,,,,,,,😆

Did you ever see an accident when someone decides to run the red light but the car/truck in front of them doesn't?

The worst motorbike accident I ever had was when I went over the speed bump on the far left but a young girl on a bike behind me decided to do the end run around and crashed into me.

Speedbumps are only an excuse to allow the police to stay in their offices, besides what about emergency vehicles in a hurry to get to a life saving incident, or to get someone to hospital  in a life or death situation?

A smart villager will open a shock and strut store at the end of the road.

Then you will get them at both sides of the road.

The speed bumps in my small town have all been removed except for two outside a school.
