At 81 it is virtually impossible to get insurance, no matter what some people claim.

That's absolute nonsense. You use your age as excuse for not having applied for an insurance or not having funds to do now.

A good idea. Why don't you make the first move?

I had private medical Insurance in the UK and never once used it.

Retiring to Thailand in good health given the choice to insure or self insure, I chose the latter.
Folks I know who did take out policies have found through pre-existing conditions, claims or age, the annual premiums became untenable given their incomes.

Whilst the odd Insurer will offer policies up to age 90, it's on condition the policy was taken out at age 70.

The annual premiums are fixed. No increase.!

The insurance runs up to your end.

Are you an insurance agent? Are you even a doctor?

You have NI access to my medical history and no idea who I am.

So if I am insured and I lied on my application form, will any insurance company pay out?

When you know ALL the facts about a person. including their medical, then by all means feel free to comment. Until that point, try not to post foolish comments like the one when you replied to my post.

Just a broker > quotes between age 20 to 75.
Next!

I've had and paid for some medical procedures, but reckon I've saved at least 250,000 BHT against having a Health Insurance policy.
Health Insurance is a business like any other.

Then why do you need to specify an age.
With age and claims the policies increase and if you believe otherwise you are naive.

I see. It hurts having made a mistake.

Not necessary to know your history.

But only because you don't have the knowledge what insurances can offer you don't need to answer so rude.

I won't change your character but just show you that even in old age the premium from the beginning will not rise. And even with preconditions you can have a cover.

I'm not an agent. Hell no. But I try to show you what is possible.

If you're interested in a civilized communication you might reply.

@newbee2022

You posted a link to an Insurance broker.
Pray tell from which actual Insurance company you took a policy that offers no increases due to age or claims.

Pssst! Broker states can't help if you're 75+

Look, you won't believe me. So I'll make it short. Read carefully.

Go for a quotation WRLIFE.

After having received the offer, all your question are thereby answered.

One thing at last: there is NO age limit.

BS. He didn't have the money or didn't care. Just another idiot.

With absolutly no idea of the personal circumstances you should refrain from making uninformed derogatory comments.

Those on the high moral ground seem to forget that the UK population should be grateful to those that are treated abroad, frees up funds and resources for someone else.

Medical expenses to date have topped 30K GBP, cost to the nhs would 3-4 times that.

On day when you are older you may come to understand the issues that can arise, or maybe not.

I suppose you only have yourself to blame,

Despite a well-worded, balanced opening post you have been around long enough to know that the A-holes on this forum would not miss the opportunity to satisfy their Schadenfreude.

The only surprise is that there weren't more.

Indeed.

I was well aware of the flak that would come about, but at the risk of one positive response I went ahead anyway.

As I said in the beginning, we all take chances in life.

Of course, no one knows if an insurance company will honour a claim, but I am insured for $400,000 cover with WR Life for the past 2 years. I pay 5,700 baht for that cover, including evacuation and $10,000 funeral cover (my premiums don't increase because I've never had to make a claim). I'm 66 years old. But your premiums may be higher if you are an unhealthy lard bucket with high blood pressure and diabetes..

Only for BPH (prostate), because I've had minor BPH for years, never seems to get worst.  Prostate cancer is covered.

Back in 2007 the doctor in the UK diagnosed me as a high risk stroke victim, aged 60 I was about 75kg and non diabetic. He tried to put me on warfarin but I refused, my late brother was losing the will to live from warfarin. About 8 years ago the Thai doctor put up a convincing argument for apixaban.

When I came to live here in 2008 insurance was a non starter. I have lived here for the last 17 years knowing full well that any serious issue could be lights out, and still do.

Wow! Starting a thread like this on here considering the level of compassion generally shown... is, well, asking for it on the snarky front.

Reading is not part of your skills. Ok.

The age will determine your premium and will not change your whole life.

Claims will increase the premium for a certain time only.

Got it?

The quote for an annual policy was more than I've paid in total over the previous 12 years self insuring for 2 x cataract ops, groin hernia op, appendix removal, course of rabies shots, dental treatment and prescription glasses.

Have you got it!

Wrong insurance, as I told you already if you can read. I'm very sure you paid more than 120.000 Baht per year for all your operations. So it's absolutely wrong what you wrote.

My reading skills are fine, thanks.
Perhaps it's your writing skills.

"The age will determine your premium and will not change your whole life". - No change in premiums for life, got it!

"Claims will increase the premium for a certain time only".  - Wait, that's a contradiction from the previous sentence. So the premiums will increase after a claim, and do not remain the same for life, got it!
