Children fetching water killed in Israeli strike in Gaza

An Israeli airstrike in central Gaza on Sunday killed 10 civilians, including six children, as they waited to collect water, according to emergency responders. The victims’ bodies were brought to al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat, where 16 others — including seven children — were also treated for injuries, a local doctor confirmed.

Eyewitnesses reported that a drone launched a missile at a crowd gathered around a water tanker in the al-Nuseirat refugee camp, where residents had lined up with empty containers.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) acknowledged the incident, attributing it to a "technical error" during an operation targeting a suspected Islamic Jihad member. The missile reportedly landed dozens of meters off target. The IDF stated the strike is under review and reiterated its efforts to avoid civilian casualties, expressing regret for unintended harm.

Graphic, unverified footage shared online appeared to show injured and lifeless children amid scenes of chaos, as residents transported victims in private vehicles and donkey carts.

Sunday’s strike was one of many amid intensifying aerial attacks across Gaza. According to Gaza’s Civil Defence Agency, 19 more Palestinians were killed in three separate strikes on residential buildings in Gaza City and central Gaza.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) reported a surge in mass casualty cases at its field hospital in Rafah. On Saturday alone, it received 132 patients with weapon-related injuries; 31 of them died. The ICRC noted most injuries were gunshot wounds, and patients said they had been trying to reach food distribution points.

Since late May, the Rafah facility has treated over 3,400 people with such injuries, with more than 250 fatalities. The ICRC said this exceeds the total number of mass casualty cases handled there during the entire previous year, underscoring the severity of the current situation.

Separately, 24 people were reportedly killed near an aid distribution site in southern Gaza on Saturday, with witnesses claiming Israeli troops opened fire as civilians sought food. The IDF stated it was unaware of any injuries from its fire in that area, but an official said warning shots had been used to disperse perceived threats.

The UN’s human rights office reported 789 aid-related deaths so far, with 615 occurring near facilities operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a US and Israeli-backed initiative staffed by private contractors. The remaining 183 deaths occurred near UN and other aid convoys.

The GHF rejected the UN figures as "false and misleading," citing reliance on data from Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry. GHF head Johnnie Moore acknowledged fatalities near their sites but disputed claims that all were linked to GHF’s presence.

Israel has barred international media, including the BBC, from entering Gaza, limiting independent verification of events on the ground.

The ongoing conflict began after Hamas’s October 7, 2023, assault on Israel, in which around 1,200 people were killed and 251 kidnapped. In response, Israel launched a military campaign in Gaza. According to the Hamas-run health ministry, the death toll in Gaza has now surpassed 57,800.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate. Over 90% of homes are believed to be damaged or destroyed, and critical infrastructure for healthcare, water, sanitation, and food distribution is on the brink of collapse.

On Friday, the UN reported that just 75,000 liters of fuel were allowed into Gaza for the first time in 130 days — a fraction of what is needed daily. Nine UN agencies have warned that fuel shortages are reaching catastrophic levels, threatening the functionality of hospitals, water supplies, sanitation systems, and bakeries.

“Without fuel, hospitals go dark, critical care units shut down, and ambulances can no longer operate,” a UN statement said.

Emergency responders is the source of this biased info.  Now who do you think these responders are?  Hamas is very crafty and inhumane.  They wear civilian clothes and hide among civilians all the time and they couldn't care less how many muslim civilians are killed, after all there are almost 2 billion of them in the world and they will be coming for all infidels eventually.

Israel needs something significant dropped on them

This war is to ensure that that doesn't happen .

If you guys would stop wanting to drop bombs on Israel, then there wouldn't be a need for any wars in the region

Can you believe the other posts?  Hamas started this with the Oct 7 slaughter of Jews.  Israel is trying to end this and they are the bad guys.  Unhinged  people out there.

You are either very naive or just lack historical knowledge, if you think this started on 7 October!

Just another example of what Israel is doing every day in Gaza (and less violently in the West Bank) - an attempt at genocide.

Genocide klaxon!  If Israel wanted to genocide Gaza they could have done it in a couple of hours on October 8th.   If Hamas (the evil terrorists) wanted the good guys (Israel) to stop fighting then they can surrender and release the civilian hostages any time they want.  Have you ever criticized Hamas for this and the part they are playing in kids dying whilst Israel fights to defend itself from evil terrorist scum or does your hatred for Jews prevent you from condemning actual terrorists?

Israel has been carrying out its genocide of Palestinians in all of Palestine for over 70 years. Here is a map of Palestine showing the way it looked in 1946, how it was divided up in 1947, and how it looked in 2012, well before the Oct 7 attack.

This loss of land wasn't the result of Israel buying land from Palestinians; It was the result of Israeli military actions.

The hostages are the only bargaining chip Hamas has. They cannot threaten Israel with military action. Hamas will release its hostages when a two-state agreement is reached with Israel that includes the removal of all IDF from all Palestinian land. Also, this agreement will have to be enforced by other countries or organizations (like the UN) because, otherwise, as soon as Hamas releases all the hostages, the IDF will come in a completely decimate the rest of Palestine.

Yes, I have and will continue to criticize Hamas for their Oct 7 attack and their taking hostages, but I will also continue to criticize Israel for its 70-year-long genocidal actions regarding Palestine. I am not anti-Semitic (which, by the way, means anti-Jews AND anti-Arabs - if you doubt this, look up the word "Semite.") Also, I actually had no idea what has been happening in Palestine until I started searching this after the Oct 7 attack. It was not the start of a war; it was just a new chapter in a 70-year-long war.

Civilian hostages that are being raped and tortured for their sick pleasure are not "bargaining chips" any more than criminals kidnapping your female family members and then raping them until you pay up to make it stop.  There were no IDF in Gaza on October 6th.   Hamas have turned down every single offer of a 2 state solution.  They are not interested in 2 states, they just want to kill jews.   This will continue this savagery until Israel puts them down which they could do in a day if they actually desired to commit genocide.  Perhaps you should look up what word actually means (you do not) as you seem to be confusing it with "making every possible effort to kill terrorists and not civilians despite said civilians being used as human shields by aforementioned terrorists".
